Don't have much info on Ohio State since all bid nights were virtual. Alpha Gam had 52 individual photos of NMs on Instagram but i have no idea if that was the number of accepted bids, etc. I'll know more within the week.

Quota- 56 AOII- 57 Note- fewer women registered this year, but retention throughout the process was better, so quota is the same as last year. |
That’s great about better retention during the whole process. This speaks to the individual groups doing a good job with keeping PNMs engaged and interested.

Is virtual recruitment more relaxed and intimate, meaning stronger personal bonds are formed between students before bids are issued? Or perhaps the lack of experiencing strong on-campus favoritism by students toward/against specific NPC groups means PNMS have formed no bias against 'weaker' and 'newer' campus chapters? It's great retention at IU is up on a more limited registration number, and I'd like to see that continue. Perhaps successful Covid19-style recruitments, even after they no longer become necessary (vaccines), would keep retention percentages improving on certain high-stress rush campuses. |
Also because PNMs weren't with their rush groups they also didn't hear as much tent talk as there was in the past, so they truly got chapter impressions off the parties.

It seems like it would be useful for situations such as schools like Syracuse that have recruitment in January, so everyone's not having to trek around campus in the cold and snow. Even if they just use it for Round 1, that would help a lot since the PNMs are going to every chapter. Then they can start visiting the houses in person in Round 2 or 3, once it's narrowed down to the chapters/PNMs that are considering each other more seriously. |
The University of Illinois has sorority houses spread over a large area, requiring PNMs trek far, fast and furiously from party to party in the pre-covid era. Perhaps they ought to consider moving to permanent Virtual Recruitment, at least for a few rounds, saving both shoe leather and energy.

I'd say the same for Cornell too! Ithaca gets brutal around this time.

After surviving all virtual recruitment (from the advisor side) I would say that partial virtual wouldn't be a bad idea. However I am not in favor of keeping the first round as paper only. We had to make significant cuts based off of essays and resumes.
This definitely favored the women that are great essay writers, but some people are great on paper and fall flat in person and vice versa. I did like that the PNMs watched all the videos before the rounds even started. |

OH NO!
I was looking on the Vandy site to see how the Abolish Greek Life movement that was so destructive there had affected rush. On the AOPi site there was a letter stating in part, “...after 104 years on the Vanderbilt campus” we are closing our chapter at the end of this semester. The letter didn’t make it sound as if it was as a chapter uprising. I just hate it that this is happening so many places. Btw—although it was hard to tell with no group photos, it looked like sorority pledge classes were as small as below 10 to maybe 20. I HOPE their system can recover. |
