I remember I cut two groups for different reasons
1. I did not like a group where I could see the roots of a girl talking to me. I was like eew gross. 2. THe house was not on greek row and did not want to walk far to my classes. Even though one of my good friends at school was in this chapter. How funny things turn out to be. Sometimes I wished I could of been her sister? |

I didn't even bother with Alpha Phi during COB because there were too many PNMs in front of the table and I literally couldn't get in to see. I originally passed on Gamma Phi because I too got the impression they were they "it" girls and that I'd never fit in. I cut Delta Gamma because I didn't care for the sailor girl hats and nautical theme. .....Kelly :) |
I remember wanting to cut AXiD because the chapter was too small at the time (I thought bigger was better) but then I thought I didn't like the colors of Chi-O so I would have cut them also. I really liked A-Phi's colors but I liked ZTA's philanthropy better (finally, a smart moment) and ended up a ZTA. Shall I post my recruitment story on that thread...?

Keep in mind I was only 18 when I decided to rush at UF. I went through the list of all 16 NPC sororities and picked which ones I liked best based on varying reasons. Some of the reasons were valid- such as the philanthropy. Others were not- such as the flower.
- I wanted Alpha Delta Pi because I just love the color azure, I think it looks great with white, and the lion had a special significance for me. Oh, and I had heard that they were very pretty. I wanted to be perceived as pretty. - I referred to Alpha Xi Delta as "the one with the weird letter in the middle". - The only one I remembered from the Rush newsletter I received before my freshman year started was Delta Gamma. - Chi Omega's colors per se are not my favorites. But they are the colors of my mother country's flag. Hence my father would have been very proud to see me come home wearing them. I had heard both positive and negative things about them, but went to Rush with an open mind. It was the last house I visited on the second day of my first round. When I arrived home, I could not stop talking about how much I liked Chi Omega- because of the girls in it, their activities, and what they stood for. - The Theta colors and symbols did not appeal to me. But I had been told it was the "smart house". That they were smart without being nerdy (this is important and relevant) and people could see me as a Theta. - Phi Mu has the prettiest house at UF, I love the color pink (especially the shade they use), and they have a lion mascot. And since 1996 I have been having this recurrent dream about Phi Mu houses having spas and jacuzzis inside. Why Phi Mu and only Phi Mu, I do not know. I have dreamt it about both the UF and FSU Phi Mu houses. By the time I found out about Alumnae Initiation, I was 28 and knew what was truly important. However, I will tell you that I love everything in the GLO I am pursuing AI with. No more spoilers for now- other than the fact that it's a great match in every way. |

Just thought I'd give you guys a funny little update. The girl who "wouldn't join a 3 letter sorority" pledged Alpha Xi Delta. How funny!

I posted my recruitment story under Recruitment Stories. It's a good example for all the PNMs reading this!

Why was Kappa Alpha Theta being smart but not nerdy so relevant?
Another sorority at UF at the time had a lot of students in the Honors Program. And overall they had a reputation as being the "nerd house". I do not know if I should say which one it was. But I will say that this scored big points with me and made them very cool in my eyes. That, and I liked the colors and philanthropy and symbols and actual girls in it a lot. I do not know if they are still known as the nerd house. But their numbers seem to have gotten bigger. |

I cut DG after skit night not only because I liked the other two better, but because I didn't "get" their skit. It was maybe Love Boaty. But mostly they featured Pat.. you know the androgynous office worker from SNL? I didn't get it at all. |
