It's called a Showcase or something of the sort. The day of (or day before) prom, the students attending would come and show off their outfits for the community/school. It may be something only seniors participated in, depending on the school. Kinda' like a red carpet sort of deal.

My high school didn't have that but one of my sands said that her school did.

OK. I think it is strange, but if they like it....
At my school we did a kind of showcase thing at the prom.

Awful

Vanessa Huxtable been working her fingers to the bone, apparently, making these horrible "dresses".

If somebody tells you "Oh girl, I can make you a dress", she (or shim) is not your friend. Go to the department store and buy off the rack.

And Goodness! all of this satin with no lining is so messy. Sizzling hot mess.

Who told these girls to wear such horrendous outfits? Did they all lose a bet?

No, he's wearing a shirt. However, the fabric from her dress is criss crossing it.

The vampire inside of it makes it creepy. I guess her parents didn't let her stay out until dawn on prom night - the sun would have melted her.

You are about to have Judith Jamison looking at me all funny when I start crying from laughter.

I can't believe you pulled out a Wiz reference! And it fits!

To this day I will stop whatever I am doing to watch that episode of the Cosby show whenever it's on Nick at Nite.

That was such a good show. Why can't they make more like that?

Anyway, I was thinking back to my prom 9 years ago:( -- it was not what I wanted it to be mainly due to my date.

Did you go to your prom?
What did you wear? Colors?
Were you prom king/queen?
Did you go with someone special or friend?
What was your prom theme?
How much did your prom cost? Some proms now have :eek:ish prices?

Tell me all.:D

Ok...So I am reading this and had to pull out the calculator..LOL! Then it hit me like a TON OF BRICKS...I graduated H.S. 15 YRS ago!!!

Now I know that I went to the prom and wore a pink dress with some puffy sleeves. Me and my best friend went together beacause our dates were fools..lolol! I can not remember the theme...I'll have to find the year book and get back to you :)!

off to call the H.S. to see if we're having a 15 yr reunion...LOL!

Honeykiss1974 04-30-2008 12:33 PM

Oh my word! :( Are yall sure these aren't pics from The Players Ball or something?

blakiceanjel 05-01-2008 03:22 PM

Did you go to your prom?
Yes.

What did you wear? Colors?
I wore a pretty gold dress that I got for like 75% off at Boscov's

Were you prom king/queen?
No way, I was in no way one of the "popular" crowd.. although everyone knew me

Did you go with someone special or friend?
I went fidolo... is that right?? anyway it was alone

What was your prom theme?
hmmm.... wow... I am only 20 years old... and I don't remember!

How much did your prom cost? Some proms now have :eek:ish prices?
I think ours was $75

Definitely wasn't the prom of my dreams.. pretty lame in fact.. oh well.. I don't really miss high school much anyway.

lovehaiku84 05-01-2008 04:39 PM

Did you go to your prom? Yes

What did you wear? Colors? I wore a cute little baby blue dress I got from JC Penney at the last minute

Were you prom king/queen? No, but I was nominated

Did you go with someone special or friend? My official date was the friend of the guy I REALLY wanted to go with. I ended up with my group of friends most of the night though.

What was your prom theme? Make it last forever...or something like that

How much did your prom cost? Some proms now have ish prices? I don't remember. I do remember paying for the entire ticket (jerk didn't give me his half of the money). I remember getting to the prom an hour BEFORE my date after driving around in the limo looking for him to pick him up. I also remember how my jaw almost hit the ground when we walked in with his hair PRESSED, looking like a d*mn pimp and whatnot. Needless to say, my prom night was not magical.

**He apologized to me for that like 3 years after the fact. Although it didn't make up for the fact that he spoiled my prom, I did appreciate it because the apology was sincere.

Skimpy prom dress lands teen in cuffs

HOUSTON—Marche Taylor’s prom night experience wasn’t what you would call “the norm.”

That’s because instead of a night of dancing and hanging out with friends, the Madison High School senior ended up in a confrontation with school officials and escorted out in handcuffs. Officials said her dress was inappropriate for the prom.

“I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress,” Taylor said.

Madison High’s prom took place at the Sugar Land Marriott, but Taylor only got as far as the lobby. When she tried to enter the ballroom, an official stopped her.

I saw this on the local news and just laughed..

srmom 05-12-2008 03:22 PM

She looks like a man in a wig in this picture.

gpb1874 05-12-2008 05:38 PM

I would never let my child wear a dress like that. EVER.

Little32 05-12-2008 06:00 PM

That's not a dress, it's a bathing suit.

On another note: I saw my cousin off to the first of her proms this season, and she was beautifully and tastefully dressed.

And if I were the mother of the young man that was her date, I would not let him go with her. Someone should have checked her at the door...before she left the house *SMH*
