See, that is what I'm saying.....ummmm Soror CT4...come on now let's get it cranking...he he he:):) |
CT4, If you're going to be in the Columbus area anytime soon, please stop by the new Urban Spirit coffee shop and art gallery at Long and 17th St. One of your fellow Wittenberg classmates runs the shop and knows you very well and has heard that you have written several books. I'm sure she would love to hear from you and since a bookstore is opening next door to the shop in the next few weeks, perhaps that could be an ideal spot where you can sell a few copies.
In any event, you'll love the coffee shop. Guaranteed. (you can PM me if you have any questions). |

RM, *sigh* I already know. |

btw, I met the bookstore owners today and I told them about you and your book and they said they would be thrilled to have you come by and promote/have a few copies of your book onhand to sell. They sounded really eager to meet you. p.s. based on your "vibe" it appears that you would rather not have me promote your books. If that is the case, no problem; just say the word, and I'll take my promotional affairs elsewhere. No harm, no foul. May your book be entertaining and enlightening to many, and may yourself and your readers prosper from it. |

OK, fine, you asked and I'll stop. But I just have only one question to ask you: WHAT THE FUSS IS YOUR PROBLEM AND WHY DO YOU HAVE SUCH A BUG UP YOU BUTT ABOUT THIS? No, seriously. I did something out of a sincere friendly gesture with no hidden agendas and you're acting a pompous ass. Yeah, I said it!! Climb down off your high horse and get over yourself! *smh* ETA: I'll be sure to tell the bookstore owners that you can't come by because you're too full of yourself. Excuse me for trying to extend an olive branch of friendship by trying to help put your name out there as a talented author. I sincerely apologize for that. |
Were is this "vibe" of which he speaks. And just when I thought he was making a selfless gesture it is still all about him. :(

Once again it's the alternate reality that he's created. To be in the know. It's funny because he has made HIMSELF her PR person, for better or for worse. |

Also while I appreciate what anyone, GCer or otherwise does on my behalf to promote my books, your act was not selfless. You're annoying, dude. You have been in the 8 years I have known you on GC and my feelings on that won't change. You probably figured that if you did this, I would forever and ever amen be your friend and in your debt, but no, I pass. You could have simply told the bookstore about my website and allowed them to contact me, but because I am not falling all over myself with :flowers: and  and whatever else you were expecting, now I have a stick up my ass? Nope. I don't live in Columbus. So how the hell am I just going to drop by all willy nilly on the strength of a conversation or two that you had with an owner? And now you are about to go from praises to scorn just because I am not falling over myself to thank you. Dude, been there, done that. So YOU take the giant stick out of your ass, and you keep it moving. You didn't do this out of some grand act of kindness. You know how I know? Because you would have just done it without telling me and posting about it here on GC. Now I'm going to do like I normally do on GC and ignore you. |
^^^I guess a simple and humble "thank you" was just too hard to swallow.
Yeah OK, thanks. |

2) People just don't know what it REALLY takes to get a book in bookstores. I have one bookstore calling me every six weeks or so asking me when my second book is going to be released -- but they NEVER ask for new copies of my first. The whole process does not rise and set on random customers saying "Hey, you should carry this book".... I wish it did. In any case, bookstores know how to contact authors when they really want to. GOOOOOOOO internet sales! |
^^^ And in-person conferences, festivals and special events!
|
^^^ And hanging out in lobbies of conventions looking cute and making conversation and just so happening to have copies of your book in a satchel -- IT WORKED FOR ME, HERE'S HOW! lol
