I was visiting my family's plots in a little city in Georgia. One of my relatives' names was Zapharine. He was born in the early 1800s. That's a bit scary.

Caleb, Zack, Jed or Jacob. All these names just say to me "yeah, I married my sister, what's wrong with that? She's purty."

I also have a cousin JEB! I'm not going to go into that because I'm afraid that someone on here probably knows him!
Anyway, I found the headstone for the man named Zapharine that I mentioned earlier!!! It was online. I about freaked out when I saw it. It's more mid-1800s than early-1800s. Sorry the pic is so big! http://www.hal-pc.org/~dcrane/family...Atkinsonmarker |
Cousin's son's name is Meredith Hawkeye F(last name). That should go over big in h.s. Alabama.
Dealing with criminal records like I do, can't believe parents didn't know how Jessie James would turn out Princess and General didn't do to great either. |

I like old threads....
It's amazing how many people don't like my name... first or middle. (Crystal Michelle)
I would never name my child: Bruce Amy Michael John Anything ending in -arry Jennifer I don't like super common names, but I like family names, which may mean that common names win out if I have boys... I love the name Anneliese Jeanne, which is a derivative of both of my grandmothers' names. |
I wouldnt give my kid(s) any common name.
|
I would never name my child after my grandmas - "Shirley Rose" is a bit much to take. My mom thinks it is funny and jokes that she should have given me that name.

In re-reading this post, I remembered two kids from my high school:
Richard Richardson and his sister Rickee Richardson |
This was a good thread!
I like my name - not too common and not too strange. I never had a problem with pronunciation until I got to college and my professors kept calling me Co-leen. I said, you do see 2 Ls right? We had 2 girls in our chapter with uncommon names. One was Cigdem (Chee-dem), it's Turkish. Everyone calls her Cig-dem at first. The other is Izusa. We all say her name wrong becuase she never corrected us. So she's I-saw. My dad bowled with George George and George George, Jr. And for you Music Man fans, my uncle's friend and his wife are Gary and Deanna. |
Another funny teacher story involving kids' names: my cousin is a teacher at a public school in Vancouver. She was reading out the roll call of one of her classes and in a row (I swear to God), she had an Alvin, Simon and Theodore. She nearly died laughing - of course none of the kids could figure out what was so funny.
