Per Alpha Phi’s Facebook page, we are starting a chapter in fall 2024 at the University of Arkansas!

That's awesome! I was mentioning how huge the PC #'s had been and with Alpha Gam deciding not to start a chapter, they needed a new house. Good luck in the fall!! :D

Where will they be housed?

Reading the "other site" (and again these are rumors.) they could be on Maple or Frisco.

If they build on Maple, they will have one square foot of space.

Yes...I'll be curious to see what happens with Alpha Phi in terms of housing.

Alpha Delta Pi will no longer be colonizing at Villanova.

First Gamma Phi was planning to colonize and now ADPi ended up not following through. In reading the article, it stated that they didn't get enough women to garner a charter class, yet VU still wants to add a chapter.

I went and looked at the 2011/2012 Expansion thread when Arkansas opened and had presentations. The organizations that presented were Alpha Chi Omega, Phi Mu, Delta Gamma, Alpha Gamma Delta, and Alpha Phi. It wasn't stated at the time, but Alpha Chi Omega and Phi Mu expanded in Fall '12 and I am guessing that the others were asked if they would be interested to establish as the campus NPC needed.

Alpha Xi Delta was officially re-chartered today at the University of Georgia!

Happy for Alpha Xi! I know they were on campus previously. Do they still own a house or property?

LaneSig 02-20-2024 08:52 AM

Sigma Chi chartered this past weekend at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Congratulations to the new members of the new Mu Nu chapter.

I think Sig Ep has their former house. They're looking at a few properties such as the dilapidated tudor on S Milledge, but the owner won't sell. It could be torn down and they could build. It's a perfect lot.

Villanova's enrollment numbers have been pretty flat over the last five years or so, and sorority recruitment numbers were down this Spring. If Gamma Phi tried and failed to charter, I'm surprised ADPi took the chance. It's a shame for the women who wanted to join.

There’s definitely something strange going on there. There are 8 NPC chapters at Villanova and one of them perennially struggles to make quota through formal recruitment. Obviously women aren’t clamoring to join this group (which is a shame), and at the same time two colonizations have been suspended in the past two years. No wonder some women feel like they have no options!

Cookiez17 02-20-2024 05:03 PM

I've heard of new chapters not happening in the past for certain reasons, but I've never heard of 2 sororities wanting to join campus so close together and cancelling the colony. It's weird.

Even with the reasons of overall school/sorority numbers decreasing, it is a bit strange.
