My youngest and a beer share the same nickname.
I have 3 cousins (all siblings) who are named after liquor. Bailey, Jack, Morgan. |

1) Has EVERYONE named their dog Bailey, or is it just me? 2) My cousin got married to a girl with the last name Bailey. His last name is Converse. At their rehearsal dinner, the groomsmen received Bailey's Irish Cream, and the bridesmaids received Converse All-Stars. |

Had I ever had my own children that I could name, the girl would have been Gaines Elizabeth (family name) and the boy Dalton something for the dad.
However, there was that spell in the early 70's when I was leaning towards Phaedra for the girl...good thing I didn't have one then! |
Anyone remember the comic strip "Snuffy Smith," the moonshine drinking mountain man married to Loweezy? They had a son named "Tater." My 3rd cousin's son was born the same day as 'Tater Smith and, kid you not, has it for a middle name. William 'Tater Pennington.

There are lots of girls named "Crimson" or "Bama" here in Alabama (I know, shades of Harvey Updike). Even had a girl going thru recruitment last year named Krimson White.
Oh dear... |

I have heard of people naming their boys Liam - not William, just Liam. I gave all my children names which could be shortened - none of them went by nicknames until #4. Guess I was just tired!

I do really like the name. |
We have a Liam (about 10 yrs. old) in the extended family. My sister married into a huge Irish family; for holidays they often rent a hall because no other place can hold all the cousins & their kids.

Liam really suits him.
His father shortens it to "Lee" - so we have "Jackson and Lee". |

Liam is getting popular in my area, too -- and as SWTX Belle said, it's not always being used as short for William. Just Liam.
Switching to girls names, I have all boys -- but had one been a girl, she would have been Allison. Mine are in their mid to late teens now, but Allison would still probably be the name I'd choose...though in recent years, I've fallen in love with the name Charlotte. Hmm...Allison Charlotte...Charlotte Allison. If I went with Charlotte Allison, her full initials would be CAM, and wouldn't Cam be a cute nickname? Seriously, tho, why am I going here? I'm hot flashin' these days.. |
I have no idea what I would name a kid, but I can guarantee you it's not what Live-in wants to name a kid. If his names are still on the list we will just not be having them.
