On the bright side, they busted those price gougers from last Friday, in our county (at the $7 and $6 a gallon on the way home from work). However, we are still paying $4.19 a gallon in our county. As if the Michigan economy isn't bad enough....
ETA: my math is the same as yours joja peach. |
Alright folks, at least the price of gas is dropping! I bought gas for $3.19 last night. This morning, they are showing two gas stations on the news who have it for $2.97! Let's hope they don't shoot back up. Even better, let's hope they keep dropping!
|
Here the lowest is around 3.29. But it varies A LOT depending on the part of town and even the gas station company.
|
The WaWa (my new fave gas stop) wast $3.15 this morning. Last week it was about $3.40 for regular.

When they started this "you have to pay more if you pay with credit card" bullshit, I asked the fine folks at Speedway if they were going to do it and they said no they won't be. And the one I go to is always cheaper than anywhere else I see. |
Prices finally went below $4.00 last week.
Got gas this morning from Costco at $3.54. I can't remember when it was last that I was able to buy gas for $3.54. :o |
I drove past a station today that was 2.95!! That was just after I was feeling so smug for getting my gas for 3.15.
I never did pay 4.00, luckily. |
I saw $2.99 the other day and almost crashed due to shock.
|
I also saw $2.99 today. Nearly wrecked my car.
|
Today I saw $2.99 cash. $3.09 credit. I wasn't sure we'd ever see 2.xx again, truthfully.
|
I don't think there's $2.xx has in Ga yet. Experts have been saying we won't see a significant price fall or gas supply increase until Nov. I said $3.69 at Quik Trip on Tuesday. It was down to $3.55 Thursday night. That's still down from $4.19 with super long lines less than a month ago.
|
i paid $3.55 last night....still too high, I think.
|
I filled up yesterday and was happy to find a station with regular at $3.75. That's just sad.
|
I'm sad that we are between $3.29-3.49 but other places are below $3.
I miss the days when El Paso was such an economic blackhole that all the prices were soooooo low. Now we are just an economic blackhole with ridiculously high prices (for the area). |
I saw gas for $2.89 but it was in another state. :( I'm back home with the $3.20's.
|
the gas station in my town is 2.93 and I saw it in a nearby town for 2.84 tonight :) I'm happy to see it going down at least a little bit, it makes all the driving I do a lot easier to bear.
|
$3.19
Which is pretty good since I live in Washington State and we are always super expensive. Admitedly I bought the gas on Ft Lewis which is usually a lot cheaper than on the economy but I was still happy to see it that low. The local station to my house has gas at $3.39 which is also a lot cheaper than a few months ago.
Is it sad that my husband is happy because he can actually fill his tank again, it used to be that the debit card cut off at $100 and he would never quite fill it LOL |
I paid 2.83 in Fort Worth yesterday afternoon at a Sam's Club and $2.97 at a San Antonio Sam's Club last night.
The lowest I've seen here in SA is $2.90 but check this out from the DFW area... a gas station (possibly two???) went down to $1.85. http://www.star-telegram.com/804/story/967276.html |
$3.12 at WaWa, which has been consistently lower that other gas stations in the area. The highest I saw today was $3.43 in Falls Church, VA.
|
I saw $2.83 today :)
|
paid $2.53 in San Antonio today!!!!!!!!!

I have to point out that when this thread first started in 2000, they were griping about $1.40 a gallon!
|
In some stations here, it is as low as 3.19. But in my part of town, being a bit more affluent, it is around 3.32. Still I won't complain- once it got up to 3.95. And in Atlanta I paid 4.05 while where I live it must have been around 3.65.

Gas is $2.50/gal today!
|
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. - Sure, gas prices have come down lately. But to 34.9 cents a gallon? That's what Kelly Joosten and dozens of other motorists paid at a Citgo station Monday. The sign advertised $3.43 for a gallon of premium fuel, but the pump cost read $0.349 a gallon.

Our gas prices here have dropped to $2.89 as of yesterday. Still too high in my opinion but I'll certainly take that over $3-$4 per gallon any day :)
|
paid 2.59 in Fort Worth today :)

I don't even know why we are so much more expensive, supposedly we are suppose to cheaper than other places because we have an oil refinery in the city. |
^^^ That's awful. Just awful.
I've finally seen $2.99 in the Atlanta area!!! Such relief washed over me at sight. Then I come in this thread reading about $2.50 and $2.53 and such. At least my 3/4 tank fill up way under $40. Finally! :) |
Paid $2.95 today. Soooo glad to finally see something under $3.
|
Cheap gas is temporary. In this weeks edition of Fortune there is an oil and gas expert that predicts $500 a barrel oil in the near future. He might be wrong but his points all made sense and he as been right on the money so far. In the last 6 years we went from $20 a barrel oil to about $150.
If we look at simple supply and demand, the supply is going down and the demand is going up. We have 300 million people. China has 1.3 billion and India has 1 billion who are all trading in their bikes for cars. Anyone expecting cheap gas in the future will be in deep chit if it doesn't work out. You are better off playing it safe and then if we do have cheap gas you will still come out ahead. By playing it safe I am referring to buying a house 40 miles from work or living 1 mile from work. Buying a 6 mpg Hummer or a 30 mpg compact. |
It finally hit $2.99--on base. Too bad my military id expired (and I can't get it renewed). It's still over $3 around town. Hopefully Sam's will be under $3 in the next day or so.
|
Gas was $2.35 today!!!! :D:D
|
Wow...I'm so jealous to see people well under $3! I was excited to pay $3.09 here today!
|
$2.87....not bad.

I filled up for $2.91 at Sam's today, yay!! Took less than $40. |
Paid $2.32 in Waco today only to see $2.28 down the road five minutes later. :(
