OK - no he's not Chico. He's Darryl and he has a new album coming out - so is this a publicity stunt. I just listened to the radio interview. (If you see a red x, right click and choose "show picture") And there's another article on Yahoo: Janet Jackson: Secret Mom? http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20051025/en_celeb_eo/17641 Anyway... it's definately sad - if true (why do I think it's true?). |

Bv Buzz 10/25...Thea speaks on Rrrrr, AI News
By Jawn Murray, AOL Black Voices columnist
The "Godmother of Comedy" Thea Vidale is outraged that prosecutors in Polk County, Fla. have dropped their charges against R. Kelly. The singer had faced 12 counts of child pornography in Florida, but the prosecutors dismissed the case after opting not to appeal a judge's decision to suppress evidence in the singer's child pornography case. Vidale, who is a life coach on the Si TV reality series 'Urban Jungle 2,' said other African-Americans should feel the same indignation she does about the latest development in the Kelly case. "Black people have to stop supporting black men who commit crimes! I just don't get it. It's an abomination," she raged. "That's why Lil' Kim is in jail right now. She was lying because she thought she was looking out for some ignorant black Negro who broke the law." Kelly still faces 14 counts of child pornography in Chicago, where he's not scheduled to return to court until April 2, 2006. The full-figured funny-woman hopes that justice will finally be served in The Windy City. "I hope he gets his due. I really hope he goes to jail, and some grown man urinates on him in a prison cell. That'll teach him to stop peeing on underage girls," Vidale said heatedly. Lucky for Kelly, the comic veteran had already taped her upcoming appearance on the new Starz In Black series 'The 1st Amendment Stand-Up' before last week's announcement came down. "He's a rapist and a pedophile, and he better be glad I wasn't able to talk about him on that show! I would have loved to talk about how even though he was sleeping with a minor -- and I saw the tape, so I know it was him -- he was still only mediocre in action," she concluded. Going Postal 'American Idol' season four finalist Vonzell Solomon just finished touring the country with her fellow contestants in the 'American Idol Live' concert tour, and now she's heading out on the road with the US Postal Service. A former employee of the United States Postal Service -- "I worked for them for a year and a half," she said -- Solomon is showing her gratitude to her former place of employment by becoming the spokesperson for their holiday postal campaign. "When I was on TV on 'American Idol,' the postal service got behind me and supported me all of the way," shared a grateful Solomon. "So now that it's over, I'm out there letting people know how quick and easy it is to do different things through the postal service during the holiday season, whether it be online or going into the post office." Solomon said that just because she's earned success with 'American Idol,' she hasn't forgotten her coworkers at the post office in Fort Myers, Fla. where she was once employed. "I went in there two months ago. Just before I started this tour," she added. Other Idol Happenings 'American Idol' Fantasia (season three) landed at number seven on The New York Times Bestseller's List with her autobiography 'Life Is Not a Fairy Tale.' The book, which reveals Fantasia's illiteracy and childhood rape, is selling out in bookstores across the country. Fantasia also delivers a Sunday-morning rendition of 'Til My Baby Comes Home' on the Luther Vandross tribute collection, 'So Amazing: An All-Star Tribute to Luther Vandross.' 'Idol' wannabe George Huff (season three) recently released his gospel debut, 'Miracles,' on Word Records. The album features a track called 'A Brighter Day' that Huff dedicated to those affected by Hurricane Katrina, and proceeds from the single will go to the American Red Cross. Huff himself, a resident of New Orleans, lost all of his belongings as a result of the hurricane. The bouncing-belter, who is being styled by Sean (Diddy) Combs' baby's mother Misa Hylton-Brim, is currently on a national promotional tour. Like Deborah Cox, Ann Nesby and Martha Wash, contestant Jennifer Hudson has become a darling of the gay club scene. Hudson recently performed during a huge rally called "Come Out With Pride" in downtown Orlando, where she has temporarily relocated while recording her debut CD. Hudson is working on the disc with Renn Music Productions, the Orlando-based production group responsible for creating hits for N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys. The Chicago native was in her hometown this past weekend headlining a gig for The Spirit of a Woman benefit at the Harold Washington Cultural Center where Melba Moore, Mikki Howard and pop singer Tiffany also performed. Finalist Trenyce (season two) has joined the cast of the 'Soul Kittens Cabaret,' the musical revue written and produced by Brownstone singer Nicci Gilbert. Trenyce is currently in Atlanta rehearsing with fellow cast members including singer Tweet, actress Tammy Townsend ('Rock Me Baby'), singer Monifah and others. Former '106 & Park' host Free was also supposed to be in the production, but never showed up for rehearsals. 'American Idol' Ruben Studdard (season two) is among the singers featured on the Sharon Stone and Denise Rich hurricane relief single, 'Come Together Now.' Also featured on the benefit song are Natalie Cole, Anthony Hamilton, Mya, John Legend, Angie Stone, Nick Carter, Patti LaBelle, Brian McKnight, Joss Stone, Glenn Lewis, rappers The Game and Chingy, and numerous other singers. Studdard, who is working on his third solo album for J Records, is also featured on the Ray Charles posthumous duets set, 'Genius & Friends,' on a rendition of John Lennon's 'Imagine.' LaToya London (season three) recently released her solo debut, 'Love and Life,' on Peak Records. She was slated to appear on the VH1 Soul Tour with Kindred and Jaguar Wright, but had to back out because of a "family emergency," according to her Web site. London will perform as a cast member in 'The Life and Times on Old Navy Road,' a musical production co-written by her mother Vivian Morse. The show will play the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland, Calif. on Oct. 29. Lane Bryant just extended 'Idol' runner-up Kimberly Locke's (season two) contract and, in addition to being featured in the Seven7 Jeans campaign, the Hartsville, Tenn.-bred artist will be the spokesperson for the entire Lane Bryant line. There are also talks of Locke launching a lingerie line with the plus-sized company as well. The singer can also be heard singing the tune, 'A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes,' on the compilation 'Disneymania 3: Music Stars Sing Disney Their Way.' Last but not least, though his accusations of having an affair with 'Idol' judge Paula Abdul have overshadowed his talents, Corey Clark (season two) is still making waves. He released his self-titled album on Bungalow Records/Universal in late June and will co-host this year's New Music Weekly Awards, sponsored by New Music Weekly magazine, on Nov. 19 at the Key Club in Hollywood. Clark will also make a guest appearance on 'The Surreal Life 6,' which recently wrapped taping in Los Angeles. Buzzworthy I don't want any trouble, I promise I don't! So I won't say much about the buzz that a certain high-profile wedding scheduled for this year isn't going to happen. They're saying he's a serial-fiance who gets engaged every year and never weds. They're saying everyone knows it's called off but her. Well, like Mary Jenkins on '227' used to say, 'I ain't gonna say it!' So, they can say what they want, but you just won't hear it from me. |
Damon Dash, lawd jesa
There's a time and place to act crazy. The Whitney gala, with the creme de la creme of clear society, isn't that place. Dame, you're acting real hood here.
NAME RHYMES WITH TRASH HIP-hop mogul Damon Dash made quite an entrance at the Whitney Gala last week. After pulling up in a Maybach, Dash made such a leisurely exit that cars behind were honking for him to get out. When he finally did, he had his cellphone glued to his ear while mugging for the cameras. As he strolled the red carpet, Steve Stoute, the branding guru who once sued Sean Combs for assault, was exiting. While the tony crowd, including Leonard Lauder and Ross Bleckner filed in, Dash began to yell: "You punk ass, I'd smack you again, but you'd probably sue me like you did Puffy when he cracked you over the head because you are a rat b****** snitch." According to one observer, "Everyone was there, and here's this guy talking on the phone and screaming at someone, while his lovely wife is trying to smile at the cameras." Dash's response: "I'm not a snitch, so I don't run to the gossip columns." I bet Rachel Roy was quite embarassed, thinking that she has to put up with this in order to make sure she has a claim on Dame's $$$$$. |

NEW YORK (AP) -- Janet Jackson says she is not a mother.
In a terse statement released Wednesday, the 39-year-old singer denied a former brother-in-law's claim that she has a "secret" 18-year-old daughter. "I do not have a child and all allegations saying so are false," Jackson said in a statement released to the syndicated "Access Hollywood" TV show. A call to Jackson's publicist by The Associated Press Wednesday wasn't immediately returned. Brian Oxman, an attorney for the Jackson family, told E! Online Monday that he asked the Jackson family years ago if the story was true. "The answer is no way, no how," he told E! "From the sisters to the mother, every last one of them said it never happened." On Friday, Young DeBarge, the brother of Jackson's ex-husband, James DeBarge, said Jackson and his brother had a child named Renee that was living with Rebbie Jackson, Janet's oldest sister. "James and the Jackson family kept everything real close, real tight," Young DeBarge said on New York radio station WQHT, known as Hot 97. Jackson and James DeBarge, a singer in the former R&B family group DeBarge, were married for three months in 1984, when Jackson was just 18. Jackson secretly married Rene Elizondo Jr. in 1991. They separated in 1999. She is now dating Jermaine Dupri. Young DeBarge, 28, is promoting his debut album. http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Musi....ap/index.html |

Was Cam'ron really carjacked?--AP
WASHINGTON - Police in the nation's capital say they're not convinced Cam'ron was the victim of a carjacking attempt.
The 29-year-old rapper, whose real name is Cameron Giles, was shot in both arms after leaving a party at a local night spot early Sunday morning. He said he was shot when someone tried to take his 2006 Lamborghini. But The Washington Post quotes authorities as saying they're looking into several other potential motives. Among the theories: Cam'ron was shot at in an attempt on his life, he may have been attacked because of some personal beef, or he was shot at in a road-rage incident. According to one official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, carjackers tend not to shoot a person first, but try to get them to leave the car. Police also cite the fact that another vehicle with the rapper's friends was nearby when the shooting began. Investigators say a carjacker is unlikely to target his prey while others are around. Cam'ron's manager, Big Joe, was quoted on Sunday as saying the shooting came as a result of a carjack attempt. He told the Post he feels the shooting "was a random act." The rapper, whose hits include "Hey Ma" and "Oh Boy," will release his latest album, "Killa Season," in February. He also plans to release a film by the same name. |

STAR DOESN'T COME OUT FOR AL By JENNIFER FERMINO, JAMIE SCHRAM and BILL HOFFMANN -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.nypost.com October 27, 2005 -- Star Jones' new hubby starred in his own police drama yesterday when he was busted for driving with a suspended license on the Upper East Side. And it looks like the honeymoon is over for Jones and Al Reynolds, who wedded last November. The haughty hostess of "The View" didn't even show up at the precinct where her love was detained for more than 12 hours. Cops say the dapperly dressed former Wall Street trader was driving north on Third Avenue at East 71st Street when he changed lanes without signaling at 2:40 a.m. ------------------ from www.NYDAILYNEWS.com Cops busted Star Jones' husband for driving with a suspended license in Manhattan yesterday morning. Banker Al Reynolds was driving north on Third Ave. when he changed lanes without signaling and was pulled over by cops around 71st St. Police soon realized Reynolds was driving with a suspended license. He was arrested at about 2:48 a.m. yesterday and given a desk appearance ticket at Manhattan's 19th Precinct stationhouse, sources said. Reynolds used his one phone call to give a shoutout to Star at their E. 90th St. home. The two were married in 2004 at a star-studded Park Ave. bash that drew notables from Spike Lee to Sen. Hillary Clinton. Star, a former prosecutor and co-host of ABC's "The View," could not be reached for comment last night. |
