Yea, welcome. We've already chatted so I hope to see you in PA!:D

AGDee 02-27-2007 08:16 PM

AGDLynn 02-27-2007 11:07 PM

I figured...it's that MI thing.;)

catwalkermi 03-02-2007 07:23 PM

1) First Name: Cathy

2) College/University and Chapter: Eastern Michigan University- Zeta Alpha chapter

3) Collegian or Alumnae- Proud alumna

4) Why you joined Alpha Gam and/or your fave memory of AGD. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I joined AGD after being very involved with Phi Sigma Pi (Coed Honors Fraternity). I wanted to belong to a group that was only female. My friend Kate, also in PSP was an Alpha Gam at CMU (Alpha Upsilon). Kate contacted someone at ZA and they gave her recruitment information and I went and fell in love.

I've got many favorite memories of AGD but I guess what I want to share is that people always say that I bought my friends because I was in a greek organization. I don't get offended anymore... because whatever amount I paid was well worth the love and support of my sisters. I went through an awful divorce in 2002 and the people that got me through it were my sisters. Sisterhood is priceless...

AGDee 03-03-2007 08:22 PM

Hi Cathy! It's Denise here.. welcome to Greek Chat (sorry Lynn, but I've known Cathy for years now too..and we're from the same chapter, except I'm much older.. LOL).

Marcie 03-24-2007 07:16 PM

Marcie
Unviersity of Alberta, Delta Kappa chapter
Why I joined? I read the purpose. It was me. In addition, had the opportunity to be a re-installing member AGD and start something from scratch.

sugarpuff 04-23-2007 01:30 PM

1) First Name: Raquel
2) College/University and Chapter: Zeta Chi chapter at the University of Western Ontario!
3) Collegian or Alumnae: collegian
4) Why you joined Alpha Gam and/or your fave memory of AGD:
i pledged AGD during COB this past january. i went to a few events and i fell in love with the girls. i wanted a bond with a group of girl friends that no one else would understand, even though i was already heavily involved and knew most of the people in the greek community. this was especially key for me as i have mostly guy friends. although i haven't been an initiated member for that long, it's been an amazing experience and i wouldn't change it or take it back for the world, no matter who thinks that i "bought" my friends.

AGDLynn 04-23-2007 08:10 PM

Welcome, Rachel.

I think it is soo cool to have sisters in another country.

AlwaysAlphaGam 05-29-2007 09:31 AM

Hey ladies!

Stephanie
Western Carolina University- Theta Omicron
Proud Collegian

I joined Alpha Gam because I loved these girls from the instant I walked into the house. It was the only place where I felt like I could walk in as Stephanie and it would be ok to still be Stephanie when I joined. I knew that these were the women who would love me for me and not ask me to change, and I knew that I wouldn't change.

Joining Alpha Gamma Delta was the best decision I ever made. It's the best thing that ever happened to me. Alpha Gam happened and I love every minute of it.

susan314 05-29-2007 11:49 PM

Welcome to the forum, Stephanie. :)

(Also Kimberly, April, Marcie, and any other new additions that we've missed recently.)

TXalphagam10 06-20-2007 04:07 AM

Alright, I guess it's my turn. Perfect first post on GC, eh? ;)

1) Ashley
2) Epsilon Phi @ Texas Woman's University
3) Collegiate
4) At TWU, there are only 3 NPC sororities on campus. Everyone has their favorite: Alpha Gamma Delta. Everyone wanted to be an Alpha Gam, yet I had no idea why. Going into recruitment, I wanted to join XYZ, but after the first day of recruitment I knew that Alpha Gamma Delta was where I belonged. I caught the fever!

To this day, my favorite Alpha Gam memory would probably have to be receiving a bid from AGD. I cried because I was so happy (and so nervous because I went suicide)! Also, running to the giant letters on the lawn and meeting all my new sisters is up there, too! :D

AGDLynn 06-20-2007 06:45 AM

Hey, there!!!

Welcome to GC!!

Maybe we should start a "who's going to San Antonio next summer".:)

nancyagd86 07-03-2007 08:10 AM

Name: Nancy
Chapter: Gamma Alpha GOOOO DAWGS...
Although, I have to paraphrase a Michelle Morgan quote: Once you graduate, you are now a part of the Fraternity and don't really have your 'own' chapter.
Hometown: I now am from Casselberry, FL, which is the Orlando area
Status: Alumna
What I do now: I'm on VST as an Area Coordinator, after having been Province Director, local Permanent Sec'y, JC Chmn, APh rep, APh officer (held every one, Pres 95-96!), APh Presidents' Council, APh Scholarship Chmn, Sunshine State Days Treas and registration chmn
Best Alpha Gam memory: Ooh, I've been at this WAY too long to choose just one, but a very special one was when (then) IVP-E gave me my APh pin. Of course, there were sisters at my wedding who made it so very beautiful, roses when each child was born...you get the idea...Alpha Gam is a part of my daily life!

DoctorD 07-03-2007 08:41 AM

Greetings!

1. Lee
2. Gamma Alpha - UGA
3. Alumna!
4. Favorite memory - tons :) The most special, though, was watching a chapter I was working with as their province director double in size. Actually saw it happen during Initiation - it was really special.

Those of you who were at VLC, Kiss your brain! ;)

AGDLynn 07-03-2007 08:59 AM

Nancy, I didn't realize you were a Dawg!! MM is a GTau but we'll be happy to share her..she's terrific!

Hey, "D"! :D

GtownGirl98 07-03-2007 12:08 PM

I had forgotten that one... Kiss your brain...

I have some quotes that are my favorites from VLC... Drive the Bus, the quote that shall not be mentioned on here, and that one... Kiss your brain!

Welcome Nancy and Lee to our little tribe of internet AGD's!

Rosey 08-07-2007 09:41 AM

Good Morning!

Here is my first post on GreekChat! I am a past VST member and have read GC for years. Now I am ready to join in the fun!

Rosey

AGDLynn 08-09-2007 05:59 PM

Welcome, Rosey!!

Nancy Dawg :) I realized that one of my GTau sisters lives in Casselberry..unless she's moved back to Ga, lol.

Rosey 08-09-2007 08:08 PM

Thanks, Lynn.

I visited your chapter many years ago as a Chapter Consultant (1979-80). There was a gal named Lynn who was President. I am sure it was probably not you, right? ('cuz you were probably not even born then!) Anyway, I enjoyed your campus and the little town!

DoctorD 08-09-2007 09:03 PM

Hi Rosey -

Glad to see you. You've left enough clues for me to figure out who you are! Things are moving forward and I appreciate the things you've sent my way.

See you online :D

Bless you, my child!;)

I graduated in 1977 and was in CA in 1979. I think I know the Lynn that you are talking about.

Rosey 08-09-2007 09:52 PM

OK! Glad to know that everyone here is not a "youngster" - of course, we are young at heart!

The other Lynn took such good care of me when I was there. She took me to U of GA football games, out to dinner, sightseeing, etc. I can't remember her last name, but I remember her face! And she had a nice boyfriend, too!

Hi there -

Not sure if I am doing this reply thing correctly, but am trying to figure it out! I am moving on with my life. Feels strange to not be a part of VST after 20+ years, but that's the way it goes. I still have a lot to give and am a visionary person. I hope that the best happens with what we started. Thanks for the hello.

AGDLynn 08-09-2007 10:21 PM

Rosey, I emailed the Lynn I was thinking about.

If her hubby is who I think he is, he is the brother of another Gamma Tau! :)

Rosey 08-09-2007 10:23 PM

His initials were SW! Of course - that's the boyfriend. I am not sure if she married that guy or not!

Rosey 08-09-2007 10:32 PM

OK - I just checked Sister Search for GT in 1977. She is on there and it looks like she married SW! She also had a different first name - Lora - her initials were LF. Is that the same sister, Sister??

Yes you do and yes you are :) - I think of you often, and am glad to see you here.

AGDLynn 08-10-2007 06:48 AM

Rosey...great memory! That's her and I don't even know his first name, lol.

I sent her email to let her know you remembered her!

I think GT had an LC around 75-77 that was from California but I don't remember the chapter..or was it Oregon or Washington? lol

Rosey 08-10-2007 09:22 AM

Lynn - Great! Let me know if she writes back to you and remembers me! His first name was Steve. The only reason I remember that is because there is a newscaster here with the same name and whenever he comes on, I think of them! We had a CC from CA in 1977 from the Berkeley chapter, I think! She was a couple of years before me.
Have a good day!

GtownGirl98 08-10-2007 03:07 PM

Hey Rosey... the majority of us on the AGD board are alumnae. I don't know why we don't have as many college gal's as we once did... just too many things for them now... facebook and myspace... plus classes and AGD. Don't worry about anything... you'll feel right at home here!

AGDLynn 08-10-2007 05:34 PM

I looked up the LC I was thinking of. She was from Phi (Oregon).

Rosey, I sent you a pm with her info.

Rosey 08-10-2007 05:56 PM

Thanks! I replied to your PM with my info!

AGDLynn 08-10-2007 06:03 PM

Yes, I have met Rosey too!!

I guess I should finally get around to posting this
1. Kina (didn't make that one up)
2, the Ohio State University / Alpha Lambda
3. Alum
4. I didn't transfer to the main campus until I was a Junior. I thought it would be a great way to meet people, receive support when I studied, be active in the community and have an opportunity for leadership positions.

The reason I liked Alpha Gamma Delta the best was that the chapter was very diverse (and I don't mean they had Blondes, Brunettes and Red Heads). We had many athletes, cheerleaders, talented musicians, many scholars and the chapter was very laid back. I found a lot of the sisters during rush to be fun AND interesting. They weren't all into "image", they were very much into being themselves.

It was 25 years ago, and I've never looked back:)

wordtoashleyAGD 09-27-2007 04:21 AM

1) Ashley
2) UK/Epsilon
3) Baby!
4) I don't have too many memories yet, since I've only been pledging for about a month, but the moment that really sticks out in my mind is having to leave the house on pref day. I told the girl who preffed me (who is now my sis mom) that I really didn't want to go to the other houses, and I hadn't even realized that Alpha Gam was my top choice until I said it. After that, I knew the right place for me.
