and....who are you?

AGDee 07-23-2008 06:30 AM

I think people should follow the policies outlined by their inter/national organizations.

Why? After 33 pages, what more could possibly be said?

But if you're going to bump, at least attempt to contribute something to the discussion.

Why do you think it's important? What more needs to be said than "Different fraternities and sororities have different rules" and "Follow your organization's rules"?

IrishLake 11-30-2010 10:53 AM

The only thing that should ever matter is what your organizations rules state. Other GLO pledges wearing letters do not affect me or my org in the slightest. Don't continue to beat a flaccid phallus.

See, I was going to tell him to stand tall and proud. Oh well.

IrishLake 11-30-2010 11:53 AM

Some people need a pill for that, k_s.

If nobody's had an issue with it in 2+ years, what makes you think you are doing the public a favor?

Really? That's the best you can come up with? What's going on with the other 3rd graders on the playground today?

Though if that were really your reason, you'd certainly enlighten all of us with what your GLO's rules are and why they are better than my GLO's rule, not just bump because you want others to read the important discussion.

IrishLake 12-01-2010 12:40 PM

Wow, just wow.

Hey, I'll take however long in the spotlight I get, and I won't complain when I get traded for a newer model.

And "the notorious m.y.s.t.i.c/c." is killing me -- anything else is icing on the cake.

Ditto. Plegdes should be busy cleaning up the house and running errands. There shouldn't be time for silly letter-wearing.

And going to class to learn how to spell, maybe?

knight_shadow 12-01-2010 06:53 PM

Noooooo. Academics is for suckers. Greek Life shouldn't focus on academics at all. At. All.

Don't you even dare bring Michelle Obama and that fabulous (not fabulous in any other picture) dress into this argument.

knight_shadow 12-01-2010 07:31 PM

I'll do what I want. #ThugLife

agzg 12-01-2010 09:01 PM

Is this hating, or mess?

nvaphi373 12-29-2010 01:41 AM

Our pledges are allowed to wear letters, as long as they are less than 4" in height. Pins are not allowed to be worn until after their initiation.

Do you run around with a tape measure making sure the letters are less than 4"? (God help the pledge with 4.5" letters)

Why the size limit?

I'd imagine it's so that fat pledges (who need to wear XL shirts) can't taint their reputation with hugely-visible letters...

Sorry, can't resist!

Gusteau 12-29-2010 11:53 AM

If their stitched letters, anything over 4" is tacky IMO. Have you seen those heinous 8" letters - blech!

jnowak530 12-29-2010 01:00 PM

My chapter only allows the pledges to wear a pledge pin; many of them do choose to wear the fraternity colors during that time. After initiation they are allowed to wear the TKE letters, crest, member pin, etc...

My guess is because 4" is the "typical" size of a block lettered shirt, and if they have to let new members wear letters (stupid HQ!), they need to find some other way to demean the new members?
