I had asked a little while back as to why Sun didn't end up in the 70s with the rest of them. Someone suggested that it's up to her to bring them all into the future (or present time). Why her, though, I don't know. But thinking about the whole situation... here's my theory... Ben didn't go into the 70s because he's already there as a young boy. Maybe Sun and Frank are there, also? I can't remember if their past (i.e. childhood) has been discussed in detail as of yet. But if not, my guess is that they grew up there, or are at least on the island (in the 70s) at the time of the most recent plane crash. This might also explain why Charlotte died during the time shifts. If they shifted back into the 70s, when she was there as a young girl, that might be "against the rules", so to speak. I'm also wondering why Sayid was off by himself. Jack, Kate and Hurley were all relatively close to one another when they woke up on the island. Sayid was in the 70s, but showed up later. I think he will be very instramental in their "escaping" the Dharma Initiative. Personally, I'm still waiting to see what's going to happen with Locke. I'm completely confused about whether or not he's even alive. As in, he's clearly alive on the island, but will it be the same when/if they leave? |

Hubby thinks Sun didn't flash to the 70's because Locke hadn't invited her back to the island. Everyone else (who flashed) who was on the plane had been asked directly by Locke to return. Sun was never asked, and so she wasn't allowed to flash. Ben didn't flash either, and according to hubby's theory, it supports his "no-Locke-invite = no-island-1977flash" theory. He got frustrated when I asked him why Locke didn't flash, either. I guess he forgot to invite himself! :p My theory? It isn't really a theory, but remember when Sun and Jin were boarding flight 815? Sun wasn't planning to get on the plane because she was planning to leave Jin. I'm wondering if she didn't flash to 1977 because she was never supposed to be on the island in the first place. |
Remember how the psychic made Claire get on the plane because it was essential that she be the one to raise her baby? The psychic was frantic about it that there was something wrong with that baby and that he put her on the plane on purpose so that either they died or he knew that they'd crash on this freakish island. Do you think it's a red herring kind of thing like Walt's special abilities or something? If they don't touch on the whole Aaron-wasn't-supposed-to-be-born thing again, I'll be sad.

The fact that Sayid kept saying, "Now I know why I was supposed to come back," makes me think that Ben is dead.
But for some reason, I'm still not completely comfortable with the idea. I guess we'll see. |
