Along the same lines, if you have any theories about why Lapedius and Ben didn't flash either, that'd be swell.

My thinking was that the island was punishing each Lostie by taking away what they wanted from the island which made them want to go back. For Sun it was Jin, so now she has to wait longer to see him. As for Lapidus and Ben, im not too sure. You could argue though that lapidus and the rest of the plane were not ment to crash there in that time.

I could see this making sense.

I had asked a little while back as to why Sun didn't end up in the 70s with the rest of them. Someone suggested that it's up to her to bring them all into the future (or present time). Why her, though, I don't know.

But thinking about the whole situation... here's my theory... Ben didn't go into the 70s because he's already there as a young boy. Maybe Sun and Frank are there, also? I can't remember if their past (i.e. childhood) has been discussed in detail as of yet. But if not, my guess is that they grew up there, or are at least on the island (in the 70s) at the time of the most recent plane crash. This might also explain why Charlotte died during the time shifts. If they shifted back into the 70s, when she was there as a young girl, that might be "against the rules", so to speak.

I'm also wondering why Sayid was off by himself. Jack, Kate and Hurley were all relatively close to one another when they woke up on the island. Sayid was in the 70s, but showed up later. I think he will be very instramental in their "escaping" the Dharma Initiative.

Personally, I'm still waiting to see what's going to happen with Locke. I'm completely confused about whether or not he's even alive. As in, he's clearly alive on the island, but will it be the same when/if they leave?

I think a person can be in a time period that they existed in.... We know Sawyer saw Kate one time and he would have been on the island just running around, so for a few seconds two Sawyers existed at once.

During the flashes, there was a scene where the "Flashing Sawyer" saw Kate assisting Claire with childbirth. She's saying Sawyer existed as the person watching the flash and as Sawyer who was somewhere on the island during the original childbirth.

Oh, ok. That makes more sense.

Oh! I completely missed that. Sorry!

Hubby thinks Sun didn't flash to the 70's because Locke hadn't invited her back to the island. Everyone else (who flashed) who was on the plane had been asked directly by Locke to return. Sun was never asked, and so she wasn't allowed to flash. Ben didn't flash either, and according to hubby's theory, it supports his "no-Locke-invite = no-island-1977flash" theory.

He got frustrated when I asked him why Locke didn't flash, either. I guess he forgot to invite himself! :p

My theory? It isn't really a theory, but remember when Sun and Jin were boarding flight 815? Sun wasn't planning to get on the plane because she was planning to leave Jin. I'm wondering if she didn't flash to 1977 because she was never supposed to be on the island in the first place.

Remember how the psychic made Claire get on the plane because it was essential that she be the one to raise her baby? The psychic was frantic about it that there was something wrong with that baby and that he put her on the plane on purpose so that either they died or he knew that they'd crash on this freakish island. Do you think it's a red herring kind of thing like Walt's special abilities or something? If they don't touch on the whole Aaron-wasn't-supposed-to-be-born thing again, I'll be sad.

He shot him right through the heart....unless he was wearing some super 70s version of bullet proof vest, he is dead.....

Unless Jacob wants him alive.....

I love Sayid...I would have been sad if he died...

Yes....but I don't want them too....I hate Ben....maybe that is how Sun gets back in time somehow? Because everything is already so messed up???

ASTalumna06 03-25-2009 11:15 PM

The fact that Sayid kept saying, "Now I know why I was supposed to come back," makes me think that Ben is dead.

But for some reason, I'm still not completely comfortable with the idea.

I guess we'll see.

Well if Ben is really dead as a child, then everything is messed up.....
