No, it's much better to use this forum to go around revealing Membership Selection secrets. You're right, I'm sorry.

I am with you!!!!!!!! Poor LMV came here for support and she is practically being hazed by all the gc'ers! I have already said this to her in a PM, but I know that I definitely was looking at the appearances of each chapter. It's just what we (as humans) do. That is not to say that my chapter was all of the best looking girls or that I cut other houses because of physical attributes/looks, but I remember walking into a house and looking around and thinking, "They are so cute!!!!!" And it is the same on the other side....It never failed that comments on score cards were "pretty" "cute" "adorable," not "smart," "witty," or "involved." (ok, sometimes they said that :) ) I think that especially at this point in her rush, looks and shallow convo's are all LMV has to go by. Let's cut her some slack!!!!!

Maybe I just cut the other poster too much slack and couldn't take the heat from AlphaFrog about the secondary legacy issue in the thread.

Wasn't that the thread that didn't make an ounce of sense because the OP couldn't keep her animals straight?? Or was that another Retro that used animal names I'm thinking of?

I can't wait!

hey, what if those alums who have hijacked this thread from its original purpose, start their own thread to continue their conversations and we can let this thread get back to recruitment?

I just moved and started grad school after 7 years in the working world to make a career change so I'm still adjusting and *need* to be doing school at the moment. (which is why I'm here, clearly :))

Interestingly enough, I first thought you were a member of my chapter who was got her third choice, cried a lot, then went on to be a stellar member, but you have posted more stuff that made me realize I was wrong. I guess that means it happens more often than I thought.

Would love to hear your story, though!

I don't think the OP has any intention of posting further experiences in this thread, at least not until bid day. Sorry, I think that was my fault.

If you'd like to get back to U of I, though, I will say this:

NPC groups at U of I are all great. Even a smaller chapter has over 100 women. There are very cute girls and fat girls in every one. There are smart girls and party girls and athletes and a variety of majors in every one. I know I am preaching to the choir, here, but I have seen one good pledge class come in and turn a chapter around. I won't cite examples here, but I'd be happy to do so via PM.

Also, most women have friends in all sorts of chapters. Off of the top of my head, I could think of women in my pledge class who lived with women from at least five other chapters once they moved out of the house. I can think of women who dated guys in all sorts of fraternities, as well.

I won't pretend there are not tiers, but anyone with an ounce of maturity should be able to get over it, and have a great experience in any group.

I tend to think we're talking to each other because their isn't any recruitment being posted, but I'll be happy to just watch as well.

**applauds**

Let's get to it! :)

Isn't time that the people who have the old posts saved can post them without risk to the OP's rush?

Please start posting away! I want read all the descriptions again before, I hope, she comes back and posts the rest!

the first ten house descriptions are still on the first page. she deleted her post, but someone quoted it so its still there!!

is she going to come on and tell us what happened?

AnatraAmore 09-09-2007 01:33 PM

I believe she was going to... Bid Day starts are 1pm and is scheduled to end at 6pm, so if she received a bid, she's probably out with her new sisters!

UGAalum94 09-09-2007 01:35 PM

But other folks have the posts saved as screen shots. I think two different people indicated that they could post them once her rush was over.

So, although I hope she's out celebrating with her new group, I'd like to read the re-cap of the other chapters as soon as anyone who has them is willing to post them.

Thanks!

Normally, if a U of I PNM does not get a bid, I would be the first one to advise her on how to get her name to the right people for COB opportunities. In this case, however, I am conflicted.

On one hand, I don't think that the OP is mean-spirited, just immature, especially considering that she is a junior. At the same time, elsewhere in this forum, someone just bumped the "stupid reasons for cutting a group" thread.

On the other, the groups likely to do COB are the ones that the OP has already dismissed as not good enough for her. If she didn't give them a fair shot in formal recruitment, I don't know that she would give them a fair shot in COB, and I wouldn't want to facilitate a big waste of time for both her and the groups concerned.

Hopefully she found a place where she is happy, and this is a moot point.

UGAalum94 09-09-2007 03:13 PM

The OP was a quick study based on her behavior here (she acted on what she was told pretty much immediately) and may have ended up matching to a group she liked.

How do you figure?

She was chastised for her first post, and then she comes back and her second post said something like "More Dirt". That doesn't say "quick study" to me.
