You wouldn't have the entire membership of GC thinking that of you. In fact you defended yourself instead of saying it was a joke by saying Jews act a certain way just like you did with Blacks.

The difference is nobody black/white/asian/Jewish cared to say anything to you. Instead I will stick the course of being the only person to keep reminding you of who you are.

Rudey, yes it was a joke. You just don't know my personality. And thats what I was trying to tell you why some people thought you're comment had a hint of bigotry in it, they just don't know you. As for the entire membership of GC, there are 20,000+ registered users here. U and russell are the only two who still bring anything like that up. I'm not saying there arent more people who think that of me, you just need to stop lying. You don't know me or my personality, just as I don't know yours. In your mind you saw your comment as a joke. Is it that farfetched to believe that I was laughing my ass off thinking about what Russell was going to say in response to what I wrote? Wait, thats right, I'm a bigot, a white supremist and I hate black people....but I love Ying Yang Twins so much I decided to start a thread about their last CD in the music forum.

You sure know how to read people.

Yeah he started a thread about Ying Yang twins to show he doesn't hate black people.

Bump.

I came across this truly awful name at work today:

Kandi Kane

Why on earth would you do that to a child?!?!?! Its bad enough that it sounds like candy cane, but then they had to go and spell it like a stripper's name....

I personally wouldn't use most of the names listed in the link below. Kids with names like that are prone to teasing. I like traditional names like Elizabeth, Andrew and Katherine.

Weird Hong Kong names: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Ginza/3175/

I guess Gwyneth Paltrow and her hubby Chris Martin wanted to jump on the weird name bandwagon like people in Hong Kong. After all, they named their daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin. Blythe is pretty but Apple??? WTF? I hope they picked it because it's a very special family name.

I know "Blythe" is in reference to Gwyneth's mother, Blythe Danner. But I'm with you on Apple. What is that all about?

The name I hate the most for any girl/woman: TAWNEY. Might as well buy the kid a stripper pole for her first birthday so she can start practicing.

I keed, I keed. I joke with you.

My mom's neighbor (she goes walking with me every day) is upset because I want to give my child a Mexican name (it's 1/2 Mexican, why the heck not???). She thinks that if it's a girl I should give it a boy's name because it will be easier to get her foot in the door of a company.

Does anyone else think I'm "disadvantaging"(is that a word?) my child by giving them a Hispanic name?

I never knew anyone named Grace who was not incredibly clumsy and ungraceful. Yeah, that's unkind, I know.
Well, there's Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) but I don't know her personally lol.

It's funny that you say that, because just about everyone I know who was named for a virtue (Honor, Joy, Prudence, Mercy, Grace, Chastity, etc) are the exact opposite of that virtue!

One of my co-workers came into work the other day and said that her family friends, the Joints had named their son Rolling and his middle initial is A. so he's "Rolling A. Joint."

I don't like names that seem to be the same first and last name, like Brad Brady or Christian Christiansen.

I won't be naming my kids anything that's too difficult to spell. I've spent my entire life spelling my name for people because my mom decided to spell my name "Rebekah" the Biblical way, instead of the conventional "Rebecca." But then again, her name is just a nightmare for telemarketers, it's "Thayis."

And AlphaFrog, I don't think you're putting your future child at a disadvantage by using a Hispanic name.

Elvira....they sang that song at bw's last night

I will probably avoid:

-Lloyd
-Cletus
-Douchebag
-Macadamian
-Giuseppe
-Random suburban (or "pornstar") misspellings like "Krystall" or "Synthya" or "Siouxsann"

Much to my current boyfriend's dismay, I do not think that Wolfgang would be a good name for a child...

Not unless it proceeds Amadeus Mozart

Peaches-n-Cream 07-08-2004 10:37 AM

If your last name is Van Halen, Walfgang works. Actually, my professor in college had a son named Wolfgang. It was kind of cool.

My bf likes the name Morgan. It's not my cup of tea because there are now a lot of girls named Morgan running around. It's the new Sidney. Not that I plan to breed at any time in the near future.
