I just graduated May 2009, and am starting graduate school in the fall. As far as internships, ever since I knew I wanted to be a professor, I've been doing research (the past 2 years). Also, while in graduate school I'm required to be a student teacher for a few years. Hopefully, I'll have enough experience in my field when I finish. |

I just graduated in May from Southern University with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in English. I had the opportunity to do some research at LSU through the Pre-Doctoral Scholars Program. I am currently working at Camelot Career College as the Housing Assistant, but waiting on the State to call me! I'm going to grad school at Southern in the Fall for a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. Gotta get my Ph.D. in Clinical Psych so that I can help "trouble" urban youth. My biggest goal is to open my own school for African-American Youth with African-American teachers...it may sound racist, but I feel that OUR children need to be taught OUR history from OUR teachers! So to all my sorors that are teacher, counselors, administrators, businesswomen, investors....I'll be calling on you! |
I'm a computer information systems major. After I transfer to a four-year university,I want to attempt a combined BS/MS degree in information systems with a minor in either international affairs or political science. I want to be an information security specialist, and eventually become a chief information security officer.:)

Major (Undergrad): History and Black Studies
Major (MA #1): American History Major (MA #2 and Ph.D.) Educational Policy and Leadership Profession: Assistant Professor of Women's Studies working hard to get tenure |
My major in college was Computer Science, class of 2008. I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Computer Science also.
I must say that I should've known long ago what I wanted to do when I was already playing around with computers in middle/high school and when I taught myself to write BASIC programming in middle school. Yet I started in Computer Engineering. Took me 1.5 years to realize that it wasn't the right aspect of programming for me. I am now a Software Engineer, and I realize everyday that I am in the field that is perfect for me. I thank God everyday for allowing me to find such a great CAREER (especially in this day and age), but most importantly finding a career that I love doing and am actually good at. To all young people I say take a step back and think about what it is that you truly love to do. What excites you and you find yourself getting caught up in for hours at a time without noticing the time passing. |
Questions:
What is/was your college major(s)? Sociology What is/was your college minor(s)? None atm, but looking into Psychology FOR THE CURRENT STUDENTS What do you plan to do with your major? I want to be an Assistant District Attorney focusing on sexual assault crimes in mostly urban areas... What internships have you pursued to better prepare yourself for the working world? Currently I'm a Campus Police Cadet, but I plan to be working at group homes late on after college... |
Hm. I thought I posted here.
Major: Civil Engineering (considering Construction Management) formerly Architecture Minor: None. I really want to go into either construction planning and management or transportation design and construction. I haven't totally decided yet. I'm leaning towards the former, though. Hence why I may change my major... again. I haven't pursued any internships yet b/c I go to school ridiculously far away from home and I don't have a form of transportation at school. Sucks. |
