Oh man tonight's episode had me cracking up.

"Huey's secret agent imaginary friend touched me in my private place" LMAO

Ahhh I can't wait for the MLK one next week. I remember looking at the strip on GC last year, where MLK was dancing to "lean back" and "in the club" in heaven.

Boondocks News--BV

Boondocks ‘Game’ Plan

During last weekend’s ‘New York Times’ Fifth Annual Arts & Leisure Weekend,’ Aaron McGruder revealed plans to spin his wildly poplar Cartoon Networks series ‘The Boondocks’ off into motion picture and video game properties. The Chicago native also shared his distaste for the American educational system, while also admitting to currently dating a schoolteacher. Regarding the show’s much ballyhooed use of ‘The N-Word,’ McGruder said he’s heard much more offensive language on black radio stations. In celebration of Martin Luther King Day, ‘Boondocks’ will premiere an episode (Jan. 15) titled ‘The Return of the King’ where Dr. King is thrust into a post 9/11 America, after coming out of a 32 year coma. Another upcoming controversial episode, set to air on Feb. 25, centers around a kidnapping plot against Oprah Winfrey. McGruder revealed that Sony (‘Boondocks’’ parent company) forbade the usage of the visual likeness of the media maven, and it was edited out of the show.

Sharpton Protests Cartoon

The Rev. Al Sharpton called for an apology yesterday from the cartoonist Aaron McGruder and Cartoon Network for an episode about the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. broadcast last week on "The Boondocks," depicting the civil rights leader using the word "niggers." The episode, "The Return of the King," had its premiere on Jan. 15, the day before the holiday honoring King. The episode's premise was that after being shot in 1968, King awakens from a coma around 2000 and is frustrated by some black behavior, including sexually explicit hip-hop videos. "Cartoon Network must apologize and also commit to pulling episodes that desecrate black historic figures," Mr. Sharpton said in an e-mail news release. "We are totally offended by the continuous use of the 'N' word in McGruder's show. While I can appreciate Mr. McGruder and his achievements, this particular episode is over the line. If we don't receive an apology, we will picket the corporate headquarters." In an e-mail statement, a network spokesman said: "This episode in no way was meant to offend or 'desecrate' the name of Dr. King. We think Aaron McGruder came up with a thought-provoking way of not only showing Dr. King's bravery but also of reminding us of what he stood and fought for, and why even today it is important for all of us to remember that and to continue to take action." I can't imagine that Mr. Sharpton actually WATCHED the show and is still calling for an apology. He has to be reacting to the word and his general disapproval of how Aaron uses the word in the show NOT to the content of this specific show.

For the record I do not use the n word and do not agree with those that do - BUT IN THIS CASE and in the CONTEXT of the show it was not unwarranted. I imagine if Dr. King come back he and Malcom X and others would use much harsher language.

The ironic thing about Mr. Sharpton's statment is through out the episode Dr. King himself commented/complained over and over about how his image was being (mis)used.
