You and ColdInCanada rock my world! Thanks a bunch! Once I watch it, I will have to come back and discuss. Please tell me there is someone lame enough (like me) who actually enjoyed the show and wants to talk about it...please-please-please!!! I'll let you know what I thought, then! Thanks!

*Raises hand*!!!!

On the other hand, Beta Girl doesn't seem interested at all anymore. I wonder why.

I have some interest, just because I became interested in how sororities used to operate, or at least the mythos of it. This show seemed to follow most of the mythos.

To be honest, I don't understand how they could become overwhelmed trying to impress Alumni, and how they were surprised at how the house mother was an alumni also. Perhaps that is just a sorority thing a fraternity man will never get.

Nope, it is not a sorority thing.

Spoiler Alert

Okay, I watched it! I have to say that I knew Katie would be a great President! That did not shock me one bit! I don't like how they all refer to Charlotte as "Char-Char" with a little pet name. Dumb! I am SO EXCITED that both Katie and Maxine made it to the end. I really wanted to see the underdog (Maxine) make it! I think Camille and Sophie are absolutely adorable, too!

I wonder if the 5 new sisters get to have the house since I assume it is near the University of Leeds (which is where they are all attending). I wonder if anyone will sit down with them and explain that some of the stuff they did was for television. I also wonder if someone will sit down with them and explain other offices that the sorority may have: VP, Membership Director, etc.

What a great show! I hope they make a Sorority Girls II with the British sisters making it through!

Double Post

I wanted to add that I have never heard before that Sandra Bullock was in a sorority. Of all the names they mentioned in this episode, they should have used names of women that everyone knows were in a sorority. I mean, there are so many incredible NPC women. I would have thought they would have mentioned some women from their sororities. If the women they mentioned are KDs, DGs, or Delta Delta Deltas--then I digress. I just thought it was strange.

Also, I can't find a website for Sigma Gamma and I didn't see them recognized on the University of Leeds website. Are they still an actual organization or was this just television? Either way, it was a really interesting show!

That was my point about urban legends. Of all the women mentioned, I believe only Condoleezza Rice is/was an actual sorority member.

I believe HRC is an honorary AKA.

I liked most of their choices, but it was a bit disappointing to see that they chose five white women. If they are seriously starting a sorority, though, can't they just call up Topaz and be like "hey, want a bid?"

I would hazard a guess and say that there are rules in their show contracts about not coming back (for the eliminated girls)?

As far as I know, HRC turned down the honorary membership when she was informed that it would prevent her from being honored by other groups. Even if she were an honorary member, I would find it ridiculous to hold her up to them as an accomplished well-known sorority woman when she had been initiated well into late adulthood and only because of who she had become.

Topaz had an awful lot of black balls. Throughout the show, I always got the feeling things were tense with her and the others and they weren't showing everything that was happening. I think her getting the most black balls spoke to things that were happening behind the scenes.

There are many individuals who become honorary members later on in life (because of their lifetime accomplishments). They are still, for the most part, highly regarded.

You didn't watch the show and the context in which the information was given. This discussion is about that.

(Not being argumentative) What was the context? I can't imagine it would make me retract my statement, but I could be wrong.
