Alpha Chi Omega - Denison
:(
Delta Xi Chapter to Close at Denison University October 17, 2008 Indianapolis - On Sunday, October 12, the Delta Xi Chapter at Denison University voted unanimously to surrender its charter. The chapter will close at the end of fall semester 2008. It is with heavy hearts that the members of the National Council accept the charter. While the chapter has maintained a fine record in academic achievement and risk management, they have not been successful in recruiting new members to achieve a critical mass of membership to participate fully in the Greek community at Denison University. Founded in 1961, the chapter was closed in 1971 and eventually re-colonized in 1985. Over the last 10 years, recruitment numbers have declined significantly. The national organization, university student life administration and the chapter have tried different strategies throughout the years, including professional branding and marketing efforts, other chapter training and special recruitment efforts. Unfortunately, none of these efforts have been able to successfully reverse the downward membership trends. It is painful for both collegians and alumnae when a chapter closes. All of the current chapter members are in good standing and will be placed on alumna status. We value these sisters as members of our organization and encourage them to reach out to their sisters nationwide as they go forward in their education, professional careers and family life. |

Too bad. I know a lot of girls at Denison. This will take them down to only 5 chapters. Many of the smaller private schools in the midwest are having trouble drawing interest to Greek Life. |
Pi Beta Phi - Ohio Wesleyan (Ohio Delta) closed in 1992. Their house is now a single-family residence

From what I've heard. (I graduated from Wake in May). Alpha Delta Pi will present during day 1 only. The rest of recruitment will proceed as normal with the other 7 groups. Then after bid day (I think like 2 weeks laters). Alpha Delta Pi will hold more events and at that time can extend bids and such. |
Here's some more results from chapter websites!
Kappa Delta Colorado State - 27 new members Texas A&M/Commerce - 13 Kappa Kappa Gamma West Virginia University - 25 I know it's been mentioned before, but it's amazing how many chapter websites haven't been updated in the last few years. Not sure if PNMs really look at things like that, but it's annoying as an alumna. :) |
Johnson and Wales University just finished formal recruitment (they are on trimesters, so formal recruitment is the beginning of the second trimester).
