Just a reminder that Ole Miss has VERY strict silence rules - I'd hate for pnm (or an alumna!) to get in trouble for violating them. PNMs, I'd bet you can find answers for most of your questions here by doing a through search.

Good point. I'll be honest and say that in the 10 years I've been a member of my sorority, I never heard of or realized there was a rule like this put in place at Ole Miss. Now, I'm pretty Panhellenic and would not say nasty things about other GLOs on campus but, I get it. I just didn't even think much of it.

Chapter numbers at Ole Miss
 

We have a young lady (daughter of my cousin) going through recruitment at Ole Miss this week. I read the posts about the increase in the number of girls. How does this affect quota in each chapter? Will the chapter totals increase to allow for the larger number? Saying a prayer and crossing my fingers that she will find a group she loves and that loves her!

Quota is based on the numbers of pnms going through recruitment. Higher # of pnms = higher quota.

And total isn't adjusted until AFTER recruitment.

Despite what is posted about Ole Miss...if PNMs are open to joining any of these wonderful chapters and have grades, they should have successful recruitments. Saw the new ADPi house under construction a few days ago.

If any PNM can't find a place in a chapter with 300+ members on this campus, then she will be happier being non-Greek or holding out for Alpha Phi next year.

Just my opinion, but adding new chapters on this campus is such a positive!

Sounds like last night's rounds were quite the soggy mess. My understanding was they were suspended for a couple of hours because of rain, but ultimately got concluded and we remain on schedule. Any other details?

The last party was postponed until today. My daughter did not get wet but was kept in a house for 2 hours. She thought it was an adventure.

My cousin's daughter is at Ole Miss. Mom told she'll get her bid at 1:55, but that might have changed. She went to two great pref parties. Praying whatever she gets, she'll be happy!

This has been a very exiting week for my daughter and a very exhausting one for me. She has loved meeting so many wonderful girls. There was never a group she didn't love. As everyone says on here, there are no bad chapters at Ole Miss and she will agree. She has been blessed with two wonderful options today. Of course she has a favorite but will be happy at her 2nd choice as well. She is happy to have a home. My daughter has seen the highs and lows of recruitment and has made friends that she will have for a lifetime outside of sorority. The Mad Dog 20/20 has come in handy for me. I am so ready to see my daughter running to her new home and my life can go back to normal. As I said in an earlier post I know this will be a great experience for all of us. As a Mom you are only as happy as your saddest child and this one is very happy. Thank you all for your support and kind words. I don't know how I would have survived without your advice. Keep up the good work. Special thanks to Mary Poppins!!!!

Quota 130. No upperclasss quota last year or this year.

So in other words, ADPi not only didn't help alleviate the problem, it got worse! I'm sure Alpha Phi has turned the pre-colonization phase to 11 to get everyone geared up for next fall.

Wow these numbers are great but so overwhelming for me as an advisor to and alum from a smaller chapter.

Seeing pictures pop up on Facebook. Girls have run to their new houses!

How high are they compared to last year?

Phi Mu did get 155, per their FB post about an hour ago. And our sweet lil cousin received a bid from Phi Mu. We are thrilled for her!

Last year quota was 117 (found by searching through last year's thread). My daughter told me she believes it was 140 this year. Amazing....seems they matched a pretty high % given most #'s I've seem are north of 140.
