AuburnMom08, Kudos to your daughter for being true to herself if she wasn't able to find the right fit during rush. Sounds like both of you have a great perspective on the situation. If she decides that she wants to try COB, please encourage her to look into it. Contrary to what some have said, there were at least three very strong groups at Auburn who were under chapter total despite making quota, and they pledged girls after formal rush ended last fall & spring. Of course this year could be different, but who knows?

Last year was an anomaly at Auburn. Due to high mid-year graduation rates and girls not returning to Auburn for whatever reasons, several strong chapters were left under total and did participate in Spring Rush. I had also heard that there was a raise in chapter total at some point last year and some chapters chose to go ahead and do spring rush to fill up. This could be totally wrong, I'm in no position of authority. My understanding is that this had never happened before and it is highly unlikely that it will happen again so I wouldn't use it as a barometer for COR.

Because the groups probably do get their lists earlier in the day so they can snap if they need to, it may not be that unbelievable for that info to be out.

Where was that post?

Here it is...

irishpipes post in the 2008 SEC thread:

Auburn bid lists are ready and quota was 59. They'll be distributed at 5:00 and posted on the AU website at 7:00.

It wasn't me. It was Titchou who reported quota as well as the DG result and how many legacies DG took. I just passed along her info. I don't have an inside source for Auburn.

ETA: It's in the DG recruitment results thread.

Groups get their lists of new members earlier in the day so they have the ability to personalize things for their girls, snap bid if necessary, etc., so of course there are going to be people who know how many pledges/legacies each group took.

AuburnMom, I'm so sorry that rush didn't work out for your daughter, but it sounds like she made a thoughtful, informed decision. Best of luck to her as she begins to settle into her new school year.

Please encourage her to look into COB, if available, and especially into the Kappa Alpha Theta colonization. Theta is an amazing, very strong national org. Our first lady, Laura Bush, is a Theta (SMU,) as is her daughter, Jenna (Texas.)
