Grief hits you like that, you think that the worst of it has passed, but it hasn't. Poor kid (I guess not kid because we are around the same age) probably doesn't have any idea what he is doing.

I agree....working in mental health, I see alot of men especially handle grief this way...they try to get back into their routine as quickly as possible, trying to reestablish normality, but he's going have to face it at some point...my heart truly goes out to him.....:(

I was personally suprised. I though he would be in hiding for a hot minute. But I can understand him trying to move on, but I know it will be hard without his mom.

Also, I'm suprised he did that song, considering that he rarely does it live.

Completely agree about the lack of respect and courtesy from the media

Oh Kanye... I'm surprised that he did the concert, but everyone handles grief differently. Maybe he's never been hit with grief of this magnitude. I know I can't imagine how I would carry on just a week later if I lost either of my parents. It was just too soon.

I'm glad that everyone was so supportive at the concert. Now, I'm just waiting for photos to be posted because I'm sure there's someone willing to make a dime off their footage.

I know how he feels. I tried to go back to work three days after my dad died. Needless to say I spent most of the day in tears and in a state of confusion. Wow-I just wish folks would leave the man alone; let him grieve.

Me too Soror, two days after my grandfather passed. It hadn't really hit me, but it hit me hard that day at work.

There's a Youtube clip on EURweb.com; when he started to break down, I started crying.:(

Kanye, I love you, but I think this is just way too soon. (((hugs)))

This just made me tear up. I went back to work too soon after my mother's death as well. That's just so sad.

I'm surprised too. I can't even take that song going through my head right now. I can't imagine how he felt attempting to do that song.

Interesting article about the death of Redskins Sean Taylor.

That article offered a really interesting perspective on crime in the Black community.

Little32 11-29-2007 11:58 AM

I thought it was telling that about an hour after the author posted the article, it was front page news, so to speak, on MSN. I think his use of the analogy Black KKK was primarily for shock value and to garner attention--which it did (why would he use KKK anyway, even if the shooter was black, it is safe to say that his agenda did not mesh with that of the KKK). But there is a problem with the way that Black criminals are able to effectively terrorize and silence people in Black communities.

^^
I am of deeply mixed mind about Whitlock because the sense I get is that he doesn't propose solutions. I do not mind people calling people out, but solutions should be at least attempted. I'm also sort of surprised at the timing of the article. Note that Fox Sports doesn't have a comment box open.

nikki1920 11-29-2007 01:21 PM

Is this the guy that goes back and forth with SupaKen (for those who get Russ Parr)?

Either way, I think he did make some valid points, but as Steeltrap said, offers no solutions. I mean, we all know what the issues are, but how do we go about solving them?
