Now might be a good time to consider adding one. I'm not really sure how they'd word it though.

NPC does not have that authority & I wouldn't want them to have control over internal decisions made by member groups -- any more than I would want university administrators involved in such.

I got the feeling NPC was supporting DZ's stance.

Not legal advice

In your opinion, is this the type of case that might be tried before a jury? Or do you feel it will more likely be tried before a judge.
Not having read the complaint, I think this is the type of case that never reaches trial. (That's true of the vast majority of cases anyway.) I'll be stunned speechless if this case doesn't either settle or get dismissed long before that point.

Thanks. That is my feeling as well. Maybe not so much the stunned speechless part.

Or go out on summary judgment.

Yeah, kudos to 26 women for speaking on behalf of 3.8 million women without bothering to ask them what they thought.

Pretty much.

Can anyone find the complaint online yet?

Oh but it's not the NPC's fault! It's never the HQ's fault! Don't know you that the first statement they issued to the NYT was cut and heavily edited because they had a max number words that they could submit? It's the NYT's fault for making the sororities look bad! [/sarcasm]

TSteven, I fail to see how the NPC should be praised for those statements.

SWTXBelle 03-30-2007 03:40 PM

The NPC statement seems to simply be in support of the right of Delta Zeta to act as they see fit - hardly a ringing endorsement of DZs actions.

In the court of Public Opinion, there's not much difference.

Tom Earp 03-30-2007 03:48 PM

There were two responsibilities here.

1. Delta Zeta.
2. Depaw.

It seems DZ made a judgement call that was not in the thinking of Depaw.

DZ made a call doing something that no one actually seems to understand and seemed to be in error.

Depaw at the same time feels the have a responisibility to their students.

There for the moment seems to be a two side of the mouth reporting going on!

Depaw-1
Delta Zeta-0

DZ would be well advised for the moment to just leave it alone before the hole gets any depper.

I wonder how many hits the DZ web site has had since this came out!

I do not remember if this has been posted but here is the link to KDs Site on the situation:

Thank you for your little s--t post!

I feel bad for DZ, but "IF" they as a HQ messed up, then whose fault is that?

They are a very good Sorority and have run into a very tough problem.

I am one of the biggest backers of Greek Social Organizations on this site while you spew inane posts and bad mouth people!

Thank you once again!:D
