So Tamiko Nash gets ROBBED a SECOND TIME!?! :(

BTW, I read several articles online that said she tested positive for cocaine, that it wasn't just the alcohol. It seems as though that if this were true, she definitely would've had her crown taken away...but for some reason, it just seems odd that she would be sent to rehab just for overindulging a little on the cocktails. How big of a drunk could she be? Honestly, I think she should've been fired as Miss USA, simply because--as someone already pointed out--you pretty much sign your life away for the year that you hold that title, and there's a certain code of conduct you're expected to follow. I couldn't do it; therefore, I don't compete in pageants, but if I did, I would do so with the understanding that there would be rules I had to abide by. Besides, I thought the runner-up just looked classier. I guess ol' Donald is a sucker for a cute blonde. |
As Miss USA you can't even chew gum in public nonetheless get drunk or do cocaine. I would say that I'm surprised Trump let her keep the crown but, then again, Trump probably sees her as his next wife......

Can we say PUBLICITY STUNT? Pageants have been doing poorly in the ratings for years. When's the last time Miss USA got this much coverage in the press?

I just went back and read this thread from the beginning. Major LOLs. PETITE MANIFESTO!

I guess I'm the only one on her side.
It seems ironic that in a society (at least my opinion) that preaches "second chances" and giving them to people, that we are all so quick to judge and say that Tara didn't deserve a second chance. I mean this is something (second chances) that you start teaching children at a young age. As a teacher I do it all the time, encouraging my kids to give each other a second chance when they have had a disagreement (a 6-7 year old disagreement). Giving people second chances shouldn't just stop the moment you turn 18. Now it's not to say that given this second chance she still pulls this type of behavior, yeah, yank the crown. I'm sorry, NYC is a completely overwhelming city. She is from a podunk town from KY, probably a very small population. Going from a town with a population of let's say 10,000 to a city with a population of 6 million is going to overwhelm anyone. NYC is like LV, a city that doesn't sleep. We see all the time with hollywood stars going to clubs there at all hours of the night. And most of them are underage and drinking. (And I'm not advocating either behaviors, underage drinking no matter who you are is still breaking the law). I'm not saying what she did was right by any means, but I do understand how she could get completely caught up in the NYC nightlife. And as for what someone said about publicity stunt, honestly it wouldn't surprise me because all the pageants in the US have had their ratings drop significantly. Anyways, just my opinion. Agree or disagree. |
Looks like Miss Teen USA is feeling some backlash too
MADD severes ties with Miss Teen USA:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061220/..._teen_usa_madd BTW, I like what Rosie says about Trump in this article. And what do you expect to happen when you set up an 18 year old and 20 year old with a free luxury apartment in NYC for a full year? I know Miss Teen USA doesn't live there full time and that there are contracts and stuff BUT if you were from a small town and the biggest thing to happen to you (so far) is to win a national title like that and your life does a 180 overnight. It doesn't surprise me really. I think these are two girls who just caught up in it all and unfortunitly it was in front of the whole country. I understand they are supposed to be role models but I know plently of girls who have competed in pageants on all levels and they have told me that most of their fellow contestants were far from "classy" and "well-behaved." |
This is why Miss America does everything it can to distance itself from Miss USA. I can't believe there are no reprecussions for this. I realize that people make mistakes, but how many little girls do you know who want to be just like Tara Conner?

So because she made the bad judgement of underage drinking (which I'm sure more than half the people on this board alone have, hell I did it) she shouldn't be a role model for little girls? How about the fact that she has drive and perseverance? What about never letting go of your dreams? That is what I'm trying to teach my students! That you can succeed with your dreams no matter how big or small they are. And there is a reprecussion for what she did, she has to enter rehab. It's not like she got a slap on the wrist and said don't drink again. (Not that I've had to enter rehab, but I'm sure some of them aren't all butterflies and dandelions, she could possibly be sent to a "stricter" one because of who she is, and that the public will find out what rehab she has entered). Maybe now the Miss Universe organization will realize "hmm maybe we shouldn't put underage women who have never lived in a huge city in their entire lives in a rent free, luxury apartment with no supervision for a whole year" |
No, they found COCAINE in her system. Do you want your kids thinking "hey, I can snort cocaine and it will not hurt me"? That is a considerably more dangerous message from "I can drink alcohol and it will not hurt me".
BTW, Miss Nevada USA 2007 just got into some trouble too for some scandalous party pictures: http://www.canada.com/topics/enterta...evada.html?g=0 |

Where are you hearing about the cocaine? I've heard that report was false. And also, underage drinking is one thing. Drug use is another. I can't see the Donald allowing Tara to remain Miss USA if the reports of drug use were actually true. Underage drinking, obviously we know he allowed that. |
Maybe I have my info wrong...I thought that when she was asked about the cocaine, she made the "personal demons" statement, and IMO, not denying it is as good as confirming it.

So she gets to keep her title. I think America's pretty much with over with her by now and I really don't know how she'll be able to continue her public appearances for the organization without having to face public scrutiny. Hell, I'd heckle at her. |
