The Cross & Crescent is back on line.
Apparently, the problem was due to a web hosting glitch and related software upgrades that hadn't happened. Thanks go to Tad, Chris, and a couple more tech-savvy brothers who worked hard to solve the problem and get it going again. |
A Possible Article?
Wonder if an article on the current state of LXA IT would be appropriate for the C & C. Nuts and bolts stuff like whether we maintain our own server(s), the extent to which membership and financial data is linked, how our databases interface with the web site, that sort of thing. If there is interest, hell, I might even write it.

The June Issue of the C&C Magazine is On-Line
Brothers,
The June issue is on-line. There seems to be a small glitch right now. If you don't get the front page of the June issue just click on "June" to the right side of the of the front page of the May issue. I am sure they are busy correcting this small problem. Have you ever heard of Beta Kappa Nu? Read about it in the June C&C! Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Z-U Zeta |
July issue
The July issue appears to be on line at
http://www.crossandcrescent.com HOWEVER: That link takes you to the front page of the June issue; use the link at the right of this page to take you to July. |
All Is Well!
Brothers,
The new issue is up and running. Once again the deadline was met. I think the content and layout are well done. I understand that the cover has been done using a new process. Enjoy and remember the price paid for our civil liberties. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond ZU Zeta |
If I may express my opinion, this stuff is getting to be a little much. It seems every day there's something on TV or in the papers about our fallen soldiers, fallen police officers, fallen firefighters. Honoring our heroes is fine and it's necessary, but done too much it becomes numbing, not to mention depressing. We have holidays such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day for such recognition.
The Fourth of July should be a happy time to celebrate the courage our country's founders had when declaring our independence (the fighting came later), and it should be celebrated as such. In my opinion morbidly including accounts from much later wars is gratuitous and inappropriate. With the economy the way it is - and it's going to get worse - we need a little happiness, and we better learn how to be happy in spite of the weepiness that is so prevalent these days. The articles and the stories they tell were great, don't get me wrong. They just appeared in the wrong issue. Celebrate this weekend. Have a Happy Fourth of July! |
[quote=docroc67;1661565]Brothers,
Have you ever heard of Beta Kappa Nu? Brother Raymond, Our Chapter, Lambda-Iota Zeta at UW-Whitewater was originally founded known as Beta Kappa Nu in 1929. Of course, it was a local organization, but it would be great if there were some local connection. Please PM me with any intel you have. Jeff |
It's Back!
Brothers & Friends,
The October Cross & Crescent Magazine was posted today and on time for nearly three years! Other Greek magazines are now following our lead. Once again Lambda Chi Alpha is a pioneer in the Greek world. This is a "special" issue with expanded coverage of sports. Read about our Olympic athletes. The coverage about our Centennial year is worth a look. I plan on attending a number of our regional celebrations. I can't wait to see that Lambda Chi cigarette! What about the "Fez?" I hope it makes it to a few celebrations. Hey, John! I was at IHQ two weeks ago and I displayed the "Fez" on my head. It didn't fit.... It was either too small or my head was too big. In any case, it was a great thrill for me! John, you need to wear it at the Centennial Celebration in Indy next summer! Read the October C&C, you will like it! Yours in ZAX, Mike, "I Think My Head Is Too Big," Raymond, Zeta Upsilon |
The Fez
The next time I visit Indy I will have to have a picture taken of me wearing that damn fez! That has to be the most talked about artifact in the place!

November Cross and Crescent
Brothers,
The latest issue of the Cross & Crescent magazine has arrived. You will like it! This marks the third anniversary issue of the on-line version of the magazine. This effort represents approximately 576 pages of new information about our fraternity. This also represents at least 16 issues of the magazine when it was in its printed phase of production. So, 16 issues of the C&C in three years.... Not a bad track record. Thanks to Tad, Chris, Jono, and other volunteers. No matter how you look at it, the magazine has not missed a deadline in three years. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Zeta-Upsilon Zeta |
Why I am lucky enough to see the printed Material from many other GLOS, they only come out quarterly and I love seeing ours monthly as it keeps we as Brothers updated.
A Brother from CEMO, SEMO, K U, KSU, and so many others who are My Brothers. |
