We will be in Boston one week from today! I am really getting excited now! I know that ASUADPi had some contact information for some of us, but if we want to post our information on Pride Online, that would also work. It would be great to have a list of our GC names, real names, chapters, etc. FirstandFinest, you are going to know all of us! You won't be by yourself!

I got that at VLS last year - I became really good friends with sisters advising all over the country and we typically wound up sitting together whenever we could, and still chat occassionally through email :)

I'll sit with you, FnF, if you're worried! ;)

Hi all from Boston Alumnae Assocation

Sisters,
Just wanted to check in and say hello and that we look forward to seeing you all in Boston (ahem, Danvers) next week.
For those of you not familiar with Logan, it has 5 terminals, so please don't be alarmed if you don't see greeters right away- we're doing our best to make sure that each terminal is staffed appropriately and with signs when expecting arrivals. They will all be wearing the same tee shirts.

Weather is expected to be mid-80's during the day but no rain forcasted and nights should be cooler and mild.

Safe Travels to all-

Loyally

From someone who was an airport greeter for the 05 convention...

Signs-I'm glad to hear (read) that you will be doing this. That was the best idea I came up with. LOL. Our shirts had the letters so small that it wasn't noticeable, but as soon as I held up a sign with the greek letters "bam" I had like 10 sisters come to me. :D

Arrivals- In 05 the LC who was stationed with me at the airport had a list of when sisters would be coming in. If there was a big group coming in at a terminal that had no coverage, one of us would go to that terminal and be there to greet them. I did that actually, I rotated between the terminals and was there to greet big groups. I would HIGHLY suggest doing that. That way someone is there to greet the big groups and then have someone stationed at the other terminals to greet the individual sisters, because we won't have any idea where we are going.

Shirts-what color are your shirts? That way we can be on the look out for a particular color shirt.

I wish I was going...my wedding is the following weekend, so I'm sure I'll be keeping busy though.

I hope you plan to tell us all about it! Isn't there another GC sister with the same wedding date?

I can't remember her user name, but I think hers is this weekend. I ended up changing my date to 7/7/07 because I thought that was pretty neat! I will put up some pictures when I get back.

WOW I AM GETTING SO EXCITED!!!

I have already packed - except my dresses are hanging free. My husband thinks I am crazy - I couldn't decide on what to wear so I think I am bringing my entire wardrobe (sp?) AND THE SHOES - I don't know how I am going to pack ALL OF THESE SHOES!!!

:P

You just described my dilemma exactly! Right now I have 12 outfits and 10 pairs of shoes prepared for 6 days worth of travel. Luckily my summer dresses are more lightweight than winter sweaters and tweeds, so I should be able to get them all in there. I like to have a choice in attire - even on the road! ha! I remember my roommate at VLS last year would get more wide-eyed every time I pulled another pair of shoes out of my bag.

I leave early Tuesday morning and still have a huge to-do list! eek!

ehope 06-21-2007 10:07 AM

I dont know what color the shirts are - we're finding out a lot of things in real-time as we go:) The information on arrivals has not been distrbuted as of yet so we are waiting on evaluating staffing needs.

ASUADPi 06-21-2007 10:29 AM

I'm wracking my brain now. LOL.

Sky Harbor has 3 terminals, most of the flights came in through 3 & 4 (yes we are numbered weird here :D).

We scheduled like 3 hour shifts. On Wednesday I got there at like 8am (which was perfect because sisters were already there dazed and confused) and stayed until like 2 or 3 (because Polarpi was coming in at like a 2-3 o'clock flight).

I was stationed at terminal 4, another volunteer was at 3 (and no one was at 2, much, much, much smaller terminal).

See we had so many stationed at terminal 4 because that is where Southwest and USAir (then AWA) were housed. So we knew that a majority of sisters would be coming on those flights, but we also knew that terminal 3 had some sisters coming in so we had one person stationed there. The LC's were with us too.

I would say look at your terminals and who your biggest carriers are. Like who you think most will take in. I remember looking at the flights leaving on Wednesday it seemed to be a lot of Delta, USAir and Continental. I know I'm flying Delta.

Obviously, if you don't have the volunteers you can't station someone at each terminal. But I would say station volunteers at the terminals that you believe the most sisters will fly into. That's a pretty safe estimate that greeters will be there for the sisters.

To encourage sisters to volunteer, tell them that greeting is actually kind of fun. It's nice to meet other sisters from across the country and they are really looking to you for help. You know the airport and the city while they don't. I had such a wonderful time helping and meeting the sisters. Don't get me wrong, there will definately be down times when no one is coming in but that is your chance to sit, otherwise I was constantly on the move. LOL.

If you have any questions about airport greeting, please don't hesitate. Having done it, I'm ready to help :D

Sisters, I'm *right* there with you! :) I have my ideas of what I want to pack, and then I think, "Oh, but I wanted to bring that, too..."

My goal is to know what I'm planning to pack by the end of today ~ we'll see how successful that is!

And jwright, I'm leaving early Tuesday, too - my flight gets in to Boston at 5:20pm, so I *just* miss the scheduled shuttle hours and will be taking a shared van out to the hotel.

Oh, I can NOT wait to get there and meet all of you (adpideltaup, I can bring extra violet ribbon for you or anyone else who needs some :))

That IS too cool! In fact, Pennsylvania is having a special lottery for that day. I'd love to see you start a thread on it - IF you have the time, lol!

ASUADPi 06-21-2007 06:27 PM

Have I started packing? Nope

Do I have any idea what I will pack? other than my semi formal and formal and some pin attire clothing I bought yesterday, not a clue :D

When will I pack: Tuesday. LOL.
