Thanks so much for the info ThetaPrincess! I think I may have been a little to ambitious to try foiling right off the bat. I got the "get started eyes" kit, foiling tutorial kit, and the meet the stones. Like everything else, I guess practice makes perfect!!! |
I've only had luck with foiling very light colors, and I agree that practice makes perfect with this technique. I usually apply shadows dry though, but will wet line (or foil, I guess) liners a lot.
To be honest, though, it took over a year before I felt confident wetlining! :) |

My personal preference with any kind of foiling is to make sure the brush is damp not wet. I run it quickly under water at the sink, squeeze out excess, and then brush back and forth with it a few times on my washcloth before i put it in the lid (I also check a little bit first on the back of my hand as well so I know I have the desired amount on my brush). |

I don't have it but the colors look gorgeous!

I am ADDICTED to a company called Everyday Minerals. I have fair olive skin and couldn't find any mineral or wet foundation to match me. This company will give you a sample of 3 foundations, cheek or eye color, and a concealer for free. I just pay the shipping. Yeah, I know I sound like an infomercial. But, I sing the praises of this company and their cheap prices as much as possible.
I can't say I like loose eye and cheek color. I end up making a HUGE mess. But, I cannot live without my mineral makeup. I also LOVE Sheer Cover concealer in light and extra light. BUT, I cannot stand how they will only sell it to you if you join their "club" and get regular monthly shipments that bilk you out of as monch money as possible. |
I'm still not 100% on liking this stuff.... I'm using the Fairly Light foundation and I like that my face doesn't feel greasy. I will say that I used it for a wedding a few weeks back and got tons of compliments that the photos looked very pretty and natural!
I have the eyes kit and recently added "hottie" to my collection (I think this could also be used as a bronzer for fairer women)... still playing a lot with colors... I also bought Summer Bisque to use as a concealer... |

I love the Buxom lip gloss. I have a hard time finding the right lip color, and it is perfect for me. Also, it stays on for a long time.
|
I just bought the Golden Medium Foundation and it looks so much better with my skintone than the Medium Beige or the Medium foundation. Both were way too pink for my skin.
I also really like Well Rested concealor. I went to the botique on Friday, and was in LOVE. I drug my husband inside, and he actually was like "wow all those color things (eyeshadows) are really pretty." *lmao* |
I went to Ulta yesterday to re-up on my foundation and tinted mineral veil. When I noticed that the Deep Foundation is now called Golden Deep..I almost cried when I thought they discontinued my shade. ;) I love the mineral veil as well because I can be quite shiny in the summer time..but my favorite is the well rested shadow/concealer (i call it crack for your eyes).

I was so excited on Friday because our new boutique opened, we've now got two of them in my area! This one is only 20 or minutes away, so I'm in heaven. Even better was that it was Friends and Family weekend, so 20% off plus I had a full punch card plus they were running 3 shadows for $36. Yay me! I got Gal Pal, Soiree and Queen Linda plus a Maximum Coverage Face Brush. If you don't have that brush and love Mineral Veil, get it! The pores around my nose disappeared after using it for MV, and it did a good job concealing some larger areas of discoloration on my face.

Re: maximum coverage brush-- yes this brush is awesome! I have one and mainly use it with my summer bisque as a concealer brush |
I noticed that whenever I wash my brushes with their gentle cleanser shampoo, my brushes seem really dry and a lilttle coarse after they dry. Then when I go to apply my foundation with my full kabuki brush my coverage seems a little off (like my face looks a little ashy). I think they need to come out with some sort of oil to help maintain that brand new soft brush feel!

Most brushes are made out of hair..right? You should maybe try dabbing on just a tiny bit of conditioner right after washing? Just an idea. |
