The Stations of the Cross article did not go over well. He was in fact quite perturbed at this "non-Scriptural perversion."

I giggled like the papist schoolgirl that I am. ;)

JPAYNE, guess you've learned a lesson about making absolute statements. You'll get called out on them eventually.

Please, enlighten me on why wives should submit to husbands. Practically. Don't pull unsubstantiated bible verses out of your ass. Don't give me any quotes. Give me reasoning.

All I was doind was clarifying your statement on what the Bible said about submission- not being a militant over the issue.

FYI- Ephesians 5:22 "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord." I don't care if you choose to believe this or not- I was simply correcting your mistake.

Let's talk about the lines after that. "Husbands, love your wies, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her..."

Papists have Bibles too.

You are correct. I agree with you. I should have added that part. Thanks for noting it.

Papist sounds like a bad word.

I can see the 9 O'Clock new talking about how a gang of papists attacked women in the park.

I too would like to know the reasoning behind wives submitting to their husbands. "Because the Bible says so" isn't reason enough.

It will be a cold day in hell before I submit to my husband simply because he has a penis and I don't.

AOIIBrandi 02-02-2005 11:31 AM

I know my husband loves me, but I'm not sure any man can love their wives as Christ loved the Church, so I guess until then I can forget about having to submit to him :D

arieltridelta 02-04-2005 12:18 AM

oh my god, i would absolutely kill myself if i went there... i could only imagine people being forced to go to that school like if their mother is like the freakish mother in the movie "Carrie." All i know is that the sororities and fraternities sure as hell wouldn't be having any "Golf Pros and Tennis Hos" mixers or lengerie parties! sounds like no fun to me:)

JoinerLxa 02-04-2005 01:31 AM

re: AOIIBrandi

So....I guess that means that he can forget about TRYING
to love you as Christ loves the church then....as long as
you are in agreement! :D

re: arieltridelta
So you don't find the term "Ho" to be offensive?? I've heard
young guys use that term, but always assumed it would
be offensive to young ladies....maybe I'm just too old!

about the names for mixers

(re) JoinerLxa
it's hard to explain, basically it's just an example out of many for the names fraternities choose for mixers. it's all just for fun, so no one gets offended. the point is to dress as sexy as possible without being naked- very college, basically. Now if someone were to call a specific girl or to maliciously call the girls in a sorority "hos," it would be a completely different story.

DeltAlum 02-04-2005 10:59 AM

I imagine it way to late to ask what this thread has to do with Greek Life.

RedRoseSAI 02-04-2005 11:33 AM

Well, it started as a thread about secret societies at BJU...

JoinerLxa 02-04-2005 05:20 PM

Yes, we have gotten off topic. Let's see if we can tie the
thread back to the original question:

So, are the local sororities at BJU offended by the word "Ho"?

And if one of the fraternities becomes paired with one of
the sororities, does the sorority have to be submissive to
the fraternity???

Just kidding :D
