As long as they can afford to take care of all those kids, go for it. I have a friend whose mom is one of like 21 or 22 kids! My dad is one of 13 kids in his family too.

Granted, this was back in the day but hey, it was done before The Duggars.

I asked this question in the CC thread but I'm dying to know her workout regime becauses apparently, her body can bounce back faster than a rubber band!

;)

All I have to say is this woman has an addiction. The next story I'm waiting to hear about is when her uterus falls out while she is shopping with her kids in the local Kmart.

Don't get me wrong, if they LOVE and CARE for all of these kids, thats great but when I have seen these Discovery programs with them, I have always noticed that at some point the kids get ignored for the sake of another. She is only one person and can not be in more than one place at a time. She gives babysitting duties to older children and I don't think that is fair to the little ones. But these are not my children and she can raise them any way she likes.

I think we all know how she prefers to workout. ;)

This happens in families with multiple kids.

There is no way possible that those children are well adjusted. How much quality time can you spend with any given child?

lovehaiku84 05-13-2008 08:57 AM

I don't know, I think that they could be well adjusted. I from what I understand the younger children are home schooled, which gives them at least some face time with their mother. Even if it's not one on one time, it is better than nothing. Additionally, there are plenty of families out there in which the parent(s) is/are always working and therefore the children spend a lot of time alone or with a relative, or running the d*mn streets.

I've been on GC 3 years and this is the first time I've ever been sent to the corner! Let us take a moment for this auspicious occasion. :D

I wonder how the Duggars do timeout. I don't see how you can isolate a child with that many people around. Did anyone see that on the show?

Why care? There is so much speculation about the family not being able to do this and that the right way, but as someone mention years ago huge families were not a big thing. I am sure the Duggars have their routine down, and it could be a better routine than families with way fewer children.

The issue for me is all of the media attention.

^^Who says I care? I was just wondering because I've never seen it done...learn something new and such. *shrugs and snuggles closer to the wall*

You, because you asked the question. Are you saying you have never seen a time-out done? Or you have never seen it done in a large family?

christiangirl 05-14-2008 01:16 AM

I've never seen it done in a large family. When I was put in TO, it was in my room or the hallway some where I was isolated--but I was the only child in the house. I don't see how that's possible with 19 or 20 people in the house at a time, so I just wondered if anyone saw how that family does time out, if they do at all because I can't even fathom it.
