P-n-C,
Seems you are correct. When I saw it live, I thught it was a shiney, silver pasty, covering the whole nipple. From the picture below, it is a silver sun type thing that has a hole in the middle and that part is surrounding the nipple itself. And the sun's rays spread over the aerola (or however it's spelled) - but you can definitely see stuff you aren't supposed to on network TV. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?g=e...ns=&l=1&e=4&a= Yes, I did look that close :o |
Maybe Janet's just a little jealous of all the attention her big brother Michael has been getting lately...
You know it's bad, when LaToya is starting to look like the normal one!:D |

That would have been so funny if all of a sudden you saw Janet Jackson kicking Justin's a**. That would have been a great halftime.... :D |
Also, if you were a guy, and you were supposed to "fake" rip off her clothing and it actually came off, wouldn't you react? Not even help cover her up or anything, but I'd think he'd be gawking at that boob.
Given her album cover of "JANET" (guy holding her boobs) and mainly Justin's reaction, I don't see how that wasn't planned. The MTV release also promised "shocking moments". Well yeah, they delivered. |
FCC to investigate Super Bowl breast-baring
NEW YORK (CNN) -- The head of the Federal Communications Commission on Monday called the baring of Janet Jackson's breast during the Super Bowl halftime show "deplorable" and said his agency will investigate.
"Like millions of Americans, my family and I gathered around the television for a celebration," FCC Chairman Michael Powell said in a statement. "Instead, that celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt. Our nation's children, parents and citizens deserve better. "I have instructed the commission to open an immediate investigation into last night's broadcast. Our investigation will be thorough and swift." At the close of the Super Bowl halftime show, pop star Justin Timberlake popped off part of Jackson's corset -- exposing her right breast. The CBS network, which broadcast the game, quickly apologized. "CBS deeply regrets the incident that occurred during the Super Bowl halftime show," CBS said in a statement. "We attended all rehearsals throughout the week and there was no indication that any such thing would happen. "The moment did not conform to CBS broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended." Timberlake issued his own apology. "I am sorry if anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance at the Super Bowl," he said. "It was not intentional and is regrettable." There was no official statement from Jackson, but her representative told MTV News that she apologizes for the incident. Performing together in a routine that already had included a number of bump-and-grind moves, Timberlake reached across Jackson, flicking off the molded right cup of the bustier, leaving her breast bare except for a metallic pastie that appeared to be shaped like a spur or a sunburst. MTV, which produced the halftime show, issued its own statement. 'The tearing of Janet Jackson's costume was unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance," the statement said. "MTV regrets this incident occurred and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it." But ahead of the game, the MTV Web site promised "shocking moments." "I don't think the Super Bowl has ever seen a performance like this," said Jackson's choreographer, Gil Duldulao, in a story posted on MTV.com before the game. "The dancing is great. She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around. There are some shocking moments in there, too." Despite its official apology, MTV did not hesitate to promote the "unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional" incident after the fact. A Web page headline trumpeted: "Janet Jackson Got Nasty at the MTV-Produced Super Bowl Halftime Show." Continuing, the Web page said, "Jaws across the country hit the carpet at exactly the same time. You know what we're talking about ... Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a kinky finale that rocked the Super Bowl to its core." |
I also don't see how it could've been a costume "malfunction". I'm sure all the ladies are on the same wavelength as me but try pulling the cup/cloth part of your bra from where it's attached to the sides or the underwire. I'll bet it hardly budges. Maybe only if you tried ripping at it. Even if you did rip at it, it wouldn't come off in one nice piece. It would be all jagged with strings hanging from it and you'd probably REALLY have to pull at it to get it to even come off a little. The piece that Justin was holding was in a perfect crescent shape. I think that if it were really an accident, the missing piece would've appeared more jagged. And, he really would've had to tug at it. I'd imagine that these costume designers are paid lots of money to make outfits that are sturdy and will hold up. I'd like to think that if they made this thousand dollar bustier that it could withstand a little pit of tugging...probably more so than our $30 Victoria's Secret bras.
With the FCC investigating the boob popping incident, CBS all pissed, and people across America talking about it non-stop, the both of them are getting attention that they wanted. Publicity stunt at its finest. |
I totally agree.
How many times has Britney humped a pole/Christina writhed around/Janet kicked ass dancing??? That's why there are dress rehearsals. Either Timberlake has the touch of God or there's something funky going on. |

Malfunction my tooshie! |
Maybe we're misinterpreting Justin's quote. I think his point was that the "costume malfunction" was that the whole costume was supposed to come off.

this whole thing cracks me up.
what is the big deal? |
Everyone is talking about the Janet/Justin "peek-a-boo" incident... what about the Super Bowl streaker? :p

Truthfully, it's not a big deal to us because we are adults. I have seen boobs before. I have them myself. Not a big deal to me. However, I don't have kids. I just think somethings are a little too mature for kids to see. Parents rely on networks like CBS to provide suitable programs that are appropriate for kids.
The whole show sucked anyway. If they hadn't done that--no one would've even remembered who performed the next day. |
Whoa...sup.
|
That looks painful.
