Awww, thanks!

Aww, thanks, you guys. I appreciate hearing all of that!

My friends and family think Texas is too far away, especially since I don't know anyone there. But I went to Purdue without knowing anyone there. It just takes some adjusting. And I have never had a problem making friends. I'm very outgoing so I don't think that would be a problem. I'd be a little nervous, I guess, but I'll be nervous about moving anywhere that's completely new to me. But just like Pat says, "But the feeling I get, well it makes it all worthwhile." hehe :)

Oh, and Adrienne... and a few girls in my house date KA's at Purdue. They seem like genuinely nice guys to me. They don't have a house, which kind of puts them at a disadvantage when rush rolls around. But, we actually let them hold a rush function at our house! We let them use our bum room to talk to the guys at first for about an hour and then when that was over, we all went downstairs and played games and had pizza and just hung out. Oh, and for our Founder's Day, they sent us 4 dozen roses. How nice is that? So tell Mr. Adrienne that this SigKap is a fan of the Purdue KA's.

And to everyone who responded to my post with such nice, welcoming comments, thanks! I am sure as decision time gets closer, I'll have more questions for all of you.

Oh one more thing, do you think I'll eventually say "y'all" instead of "you guys".... all my southern friends who go to Purdue laugh at how we say "you guys" in place of that. Think I'll pick it up?? hehe

A friend of mine from Ohio, none the less, says "y'all" all of the freakin time. I find it so funny. She was born and raised in Ohio, has always lived in Ohio and still does, so I don't know where she picked it up. I think eventually you will say "y'all." You will catch on to many other words we use. One of lifesaver's favorite: the chancla. LOL

Texas is great. I wouldn't trade living here for the world. Many "Yankees" (according to life's definition) come to Texas. I'm sure you've heard this saying, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could." :) I hope to one day be able to call you a fellow Texas. Keep us updated as to your decision. Best of luck!

I see this bumper sticker all of the time. I should have one that says "I wasn't born in Austin, but I got here as fast as I could"

Someday I need to spend more than just two days in Texas (death to driving cross country for college!:D)

Having just been to Austin over Thanksgiving... (Which was terrible, as I was wearing my A&M shirt)

(1) Texas is not the only state that was a country before becoming part of the US, and is not the only state that reserves the right to seceed from the Union. Hawaii was it's own nation, complete with it's own royal line.

(2) Not everyone that drives through Texas loves it. I still abhor Texas, and the conservative people that come out of it, with only 8th grade educations.

(3) What's up with giving every road three names? Mopak Dr. in Austin, also is Loop something or other, and also has a Farm Road number too.

(4) It's MESS WITH TEXAS, that's what the bumper sticker on my car says.

(5) Why on the Texas football schedule does it have when the Big XII championship is? It's not like you guys are gonna go.

(6) You state smells, and the wind blowing up here makes my state smell. Give your cattle a bath, and make laws about pollution.

(7) You aren't the only state to have special edition Ford F-150s and the like, Ford has Oklahoma editions too, and most of your Fords are made here in Oklahoma.

(8) What's with the egos? I mean, every state has it's ups and downs. I hate Oklahoma, except for Norman and Tulsa, but man, I REALLY HATE TEX-A$$. (P.S. That word should always be written upside down. Sometimes starting with an F and preceeded by the word tuck.)

Lol.

Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

It's ok, you're from oklahoma. Dont talk about smelly states, i've driven through about every state in the midwest and i'll tell you that western Kansas stinks to high heaven.

And i think that you'll find that most Big XII schools include the date of the Big XII championship game in their schedules, not just t.u.

I'm sorry that you hate your own state as well. Maybe someday you can find something that makes you happy.

I'll remember how we Texas conservatives have 8th grade educations when i look at my diploma from A&M.

Happy Holidays Okie!

This is obviously your opinion, and that's great. As for me, however, I LOVE Texas and it makes no difference to me what you say regarding my state. I will always love Texas. I'm also sorry that you are miserable in your state. I could never imagine the torture.

Actually, she woke up on the wrong side of the Red River, lol.

Also, we should be accurate when we speak of Texas history. Texas was the onyl state that was its own Repulic before it was a state. Hawaii was a kingdom. True, both were countries, we were jsut the only republic that became a state. Question tho... What was Oklahoma before it was a state? Actually, what the hell is it now, except the place with the low alcohol content beer?

I understand that the roads in Texas are confusing to okies. That happens when you have more than 1 road.

Finally, I guess theres a statehood equvilant to peni$ envy. Huh.

BTW - Its Ardmore that you smell, not Texas.

Hey! I never moved from Oklahoma to California drunignt he dustbowl, I therefore am and Oklahoman. Calling someone an Okie is a severe insult.

And I've lost some of my best friends to Texas, it's the self righteous war mongering conservatives that ARE uneducated from Texas that bother me. I don't think that anyone on this board from Texas bothers me, because they are college educated.

And we have more than one road... we have 3 interstates and people always seem to get lost in Norman.

I didn't get up on the wrong side of the bed, I am just way too tired of people from texas with inflated hair, big belt buckles and egos to match...

what about people from kentucky with big belt buckles, and egos to stroke?

i know a man who was proud to be called an Okie from Muskogee. so you should proudly wear your Okie like the badge of honor great men from Oklahoma have made it to be.

Having lived and gone to college in Oklahoma and currently living in Texas, there's certain things I like and dislike about both states. (I'm a native New Yawker that grew up in the unofficial 'sixth borough' of NYC - South Florida.)

And, besides, I am proud to call myself a 'Tex-Okie Mason', holding a perpetual membership in an Oklahoma Masonic lodge. (I haven't bought a perpetual membership in Texas yet).

California was a republic - very briefly - before it became a state, which is why the state flag reads 'CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC'.

People -

Haven't you learned? If you post your garbage in this thread you're gonna lose. Well, you will lose...I didn't ;)
