He's not the one getting it. ;)

Exactly! You'd think it was HIS body from the way he's acting

ah ha!!! I have finally decided what my third tattoo will be. I am so excited. I haved decided to to get out sorority flower (the wine carnation) and beside it the kanji symbol for friends. I'm going to get it done on the ankle. All I need to know is some money. Just waiting till I get paid which should be very soon (I hope). I'll post pics of all my tattoos when I get the third one done.

I am not looking forward to it, I remember the pain from my last tattoo...:shudders: However, this one won't be huge.

Lots of people seem to have terribly (sp?) painful experiences when getting tattoos. I mean don't get me wrong, they hurt, but I just don't think they hurt that much. I got one done on my spine, it hurt but I wasn't in extreme pain. I have one on my leg and it certainly didn't hurt has much as my back. I guess maybe I have a higer tolernce for pain, but I don't think so. It just didn't hurt me that much.

I agree Lady Pi Phi-- Mine didn't hurt too much. Was more annoying that anything. And I do not have a high tolerence for pain.

What amy said. Seriously it's like annoying to the point like when the hell is this over. One of mine took four hours and it was pretty much numb by the end, but you can't really move or anything.

My tatoo is about 5inches long and 3 inches wide, and its on my lower back. It took 3 hours and the guy who did it outlined over and over again. It also has a lot of small details. I think it was worth it though. I have never seen anyone with my tattoo. However, I did see a huge poster of it at Hot Topis and nearly pissed in my pants.

I wouldn't say it was the worse pain I ever felt......I would think getting certain body parts hurt more...

I agree.

Where can I find Japanese/Chinese symbols for words online? I really want to get "Honor, Beauty, Truth" tattooed on my lower back with a little design around it. I would hate to think that I would get the symbols wrong and end up with "Pushpin, coffeemug, toenail" on my back!

OMG! That sounds so awesome! I never thought about getting any KD related tattoos...but I did consider a ladybug, which is our local mascot.

I say go to the tattoo artist, I'm sure they will have a book/dictionary that has all the words in them.

Good luck with the TAT! :)

I highly suggest that you DO NOT use any online translation tools to find the symbols that you want. My husbands family is Japanese and his cousin got a tattoo on her back that she thought was Japanese for something...I forget what she wanted it to say. Anyway, she was so excited that she went and showed my husbands grandma (who is 100% Japanese) and come to find out that her tattoo meant absolutely nothing! Please do extensive research before getting anything done!!

When I got my Chinese character tattoo, I tried to find the symbol online but couldn't find it anywhere. Looking back, that's probably a good thing, because like AOX81 says, you really don't know how reliable those things are. I ended up calling a guy from the Chinatown chamber of commerce, who put me in touch with another guy who does calligraphy, and he wrote the character out for me a few different times, and then I picked the one that I liked and the EXACT copy of it is now on my arm. :)

That being said, I would be willing to bet that most tattoo places have the Chinese and Japanese symbols for honor, beauty and truth, since those are probably all relatively popular words.

BTW, I think that is an *awesome* idea for a tattoo!
