i've been using the rx for brown skin (bright & even) for almost a month and i have to say that my skin looks and feels so much better now. my pores are smaller, my skin is smoother and softer, and much more even.

I also wear Bareminerals daily..love their products especially the WELL RESTED eye shadow/concealer (makes you look like you got 8 hours of sleep when you know good and well you only got like 2 hours sleep)

I love Dolce and Gabbana "Light Blue"

I purchased my 1st products right before Thanksgiving and I love them!!!!

I have finally gotten it right. I mix Warm Tan & Warm Deep, and I get the coverage I need. I also love Well Rested, I work 3rd shift now so when I 1st started wearing it, my co-workers were like WOW, what have you done differently, I just smiled & went on my merry way. It really makes your eyes POP!

This is what I was thinking about doing. I was also told to possibly mix warm tan with warmth as well. I don't have any warmth, but I might try to get some later. I was also told that Leslie and the BE crew are working on shades for us. I think what my problem was initially, though, was that I was using too much and not using the right brush. I now use the handy buki brush and apply in layers, if I need to.

Thanks for the update. My skin isn't bad, but it could definitely be better. I might have to look into this.

Sistergreek, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Initially I wasn't liking the foundation, but I really think I was just using too much. Basically, I just put some in the lid, swirl the brush around and tap off the excess and buff it onto my face. I think the key is to buff really well.

Please let us know how it works for you!

pinkies up 12-29-2007 08:14 PM

I think I'm going to buy some tomorrow. I'm really light skinned and have a hard time finding matching foundations. They're either too pink or too light. Any suggestions on the color I should get?

I tried a few makeup brands when I was looking for wedding makeup.

MAC - Too heavy. Made me look like a painted woman of leisure. :D ( And I tried that makeup with 3 different makeup artists...)

Mary-Kay - Made me look like Casper the Friendly Ghost

Bare Minerals - Made me look generally ashy. And slightly off from a color perspective.

I ended up going with a local cosmetics company. Thier makeup was the only makeup brand that was absolutely perfect for my complexion. Very light, perfect coverage They're a black owned local brand (based out of Cleveland) - LaChae Cosmetics. I LOVE their makeup. I think they have locations in VA and Detroit. They also have an online presence.

ok, so, i played with it some more and i like it! :) warm tan as foundation/concealer, mineral veil all over and i'm good. i didn't put on the mineral veil the first couple times and when my face got oily after 15 minutes (typical when i wear foundation), it showed.

it's pretty nifty stuff.

I agree Mac is the best. I break out easy but I haven't had any problems with them. I guess the ol' saying is right...you get what you pay for.

Can somebody help me?!? *cries*

Whenever I put on makeup, it seems like a few hours later my makeup is gone. My eyeliner is all smudged and it doesn't look like I put on any foundation. Is there anything I can do about that?

i had the same issue with makeup, eyeshadow really, disappearing and creasing. i had a lot of success using MAC paint pot in Groundwork as a base (applied from lid to brow) and also using Urban Decay Primer Potion.

as far as foundation, i'm still working that out for me, but it helps if my face is freshly very clean and moisturized and i've waited a little while (10-15 min) after moisturizing before i put on foundation. i've also discovered the value of using translucent powder to set the foundation. it sounds like a lot to do, but it does help.

Great info! Thank you!!

After reading this thread I am hitting up a MAC counter ASAP! :D

Still BLUTANG 01-04-2008 02:05 PM

for the ladies who have issues with the makeup wearing off, i have 2 tips:

1. i apply my powder IMMEDIATELY after i put on moisturizer. that way there's something for it to "stick" to.

2. i fell in love with MAC's prep+prime earlier this summer. it is a good base for make up... it will last ALLLLL day. however, i cannot use this as a daily moisturizer (my skin is addicted to clinique's daily dramatic gel)...

just do what's best for your skin!

Ooooo, Soror - I've got you covered! You MUST try Model in a Bottle. It will keep you looking purty all day. It will give you a soft matte finish. It's about $25/bottle, but it's worth it.

You can also try the primers that the Sistergreeks were talking about.

Also, 12dn94dst, I know you said that you like the BE (I'm glad!), but if you think you might need to "tweak" the color a little, try putting on a bit of warmth first, then your foundation. I don't own any warmth, but had my co-worker give me some from her collection. I might go purchase some now.

Smashbox has a primer, Photo Finish, that I like and it will keep your make up on.

Also, try an eye shadow primer. The one I use is Mary Kay but I believe M.A.C. has one too
