I am SO happy for you! You sound like you found the perfect fit. And btw, one of the hallmarks (in this old lady's opinion) of a great sorority/college experience: growing in ways that you never expected (along with the fun)!

Bumping this thread from eons ago, but I just wanted to update everyone who followed my story.

I'm now a senior, and trying to soak up every last minute of being in Sigma Delta Tau. Like everyone else who has ever been in a sorority, I'm sure, my experience has been full of ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I'm actually really glad that I documented my crazy journey through formal recruitment. I went back and re-read it a couple weeks ago, and my perspective is now so colored by my experiences as a sister that it's really cool to go back and see what I thought before I joined.

By the way—that girl who walked me back to my dorm from my first Sig Delt event? She's now my surrogate grand-big and one of my closest sisters.

In retrospect, I now find it funnier than ever that, during formal recruitment, I said, "I don't really see myself taking on a leadership position in a sorority." The semester after I joined, I was elected to a chair position, which I held for three semesters. I was elected to a fourth semester as that chair, but gave it up to serve on the chapter's executive board.

And the ultimate kicker?

For 2013, I was/am Vice President of Formal Recruitment for Sigma Delta Tau and helped our chapter participate in all of formal recruitment for the first time since 2009.
