Unfortunately, the Oklahoma legislature is pretty reflective of the attitude of our electorate.

As for Arizona, let's wait and see whether they elect Hayworth. I think that'll be a pretty good indication.

Here we go: Headline is "Tucson cop sues to block AZ immigration law".

http://azstarnet.com/news/local/arti...cc4c002e0.html

and another one: "Some UA Honors students leave citing SB1070" - a letter from Robert Shelton, President of the University of AZ

http://azstarnet.com/news/blogs/camp...cc4c002e0.html

Hayworth ... McCain... November is going to be quite interesting.

PiKA2001 04-29-2010 10:28 PM

There were protesters at Peter Piper's Pizza* here in El Paso protesting SB1070, with plans to protest at the Republican Party of El Paso headquarters on Saturday. El Paso County and the City also wrote up a resolution to boycott Arizona and all business based out of AZ. I don't mind cuz Peter Piper is overpriced cheese and ketchup covered cardboard.

* The local owner of the Peter Pipers franchise in town is adamantly against what AZ is doing, even going on the record in the newspaper condemning the bill, yet pissed off people still protested outside.

Maryland idiot now plans to file similar bill. Don't think that one will get far!

Latest update: the House passed a bill yesterday that removes some of the most offensive provisions of the Senate bill. Since it was passed later than the Senate bill, it'll supercede the Senate bill when they both take effect 90 days after the legislature session ends.

Doesn't matter (in my opinion), too late. The damage is already done. The Federal Government will act and the whole kit and kaboodle will be thrown out. Yet another black eye for the State of AZ.

Agree. If the Federal Government would actually enforce its own laws then perhaps Arizona wouldn't have felt such pressure.

That may be their actual end game.

That's actually not exactly true. The County Commissioner drafted a resolution to boycott businesses based out of AZ. It has not passed, and I seriously doubt it would. As for City Council...there was no talk of banning, but there was a resolution that condemns the AZ law.

There are a few resolutions both at the County and City level, but only Gandara's speaks of a boycott.

Mexico is a big hot mess of hypocrisy, I nearly threw up when Calderone talked about the AZ bill as an attack against human rights. The man has no room to talk about OTHER Governments repressing their peoples' rights.

Thanks, I had heard that EP County and City had drafted the ban on a news blurb, they didn't give the details and made it sound that it had passed. I still don't like Peter Piper's.

You're nuts, so are the 70% of AZ residents that support this bill. I wonder if the deputy that was just shot by a suspected drug smuggler supports the bill?http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/04/30/...ex.html?hpt=T2
