This is a huge quota number for U of O- fantastic. After graduating seniors last year, I bet the new member classes are as large as the rest of the chapter for most of the sororities. U of O lost at least 4 sororities between the early 90s and early 00s due to low numbers. It is great to see the remaining houses get this boost.

Dumb IFC Guy Question:

Is it odd that chapter total at Grand Valley State University is 60, but the new Phi Mu colony was allowed to pledge 85?

Looking at GVSU's website, most of the sororities (at least last year) were 5-6 members over or under total. I thought most new NPC colonies recruited either to total or to campus average.

It's possible the average chapter size has changed....? Or maybe total changed...? Could be issues with not updating the website.

In the college/university chapter listings, under South Carolina, following the colleges there is a list of sororities and where they chapters are located in SC. Gamma Phi Beta is at Clemson, Lander, Coastal Carolina University and the University of South Carolina. Gamma Phi Beta does not have a chapter at the College of Charleston. Thanks for all your working keeping all this information available!

If anyone is interested .. the University of Illinois has posted the list of NPC new members on its web site..

http://www.odos.uiuc.edu/GREEK/membe...ew_Members.pdf

Since Alpha Xi Delta isn't represented, I'm assuming that these are the women pledged thru formal recruitment.

Can I just say that AEPhi at University of Iowa DOES participate in FR. They just never got anyone to join through it. But this year, they did get 3 girls during FR and they were really excited about it

It must feel good to get that off your chest. Thank you for the information.

Can't you just explain it? Was it the grammar? Was the information wrong? You know you can just tell me, I won't be offended

irishpipes 11-04-2008 12:15 AM

I usually am not snarky like that, but the way I read your post may not be how you intended it.

"Can I just say" translation: You are standing with your arms crossed and foot tapping in exasperation saying, "you moron, Alpha Epsilon Phi DOES (all caps =yelling) ..." I mean, I know you have like 5,000 other elements of this thread to keep updated, but sheesh, get a clue."

Maybe just me being sensitive, but the "can I just say" and the screaming all caps is not friendly.

This seems disrespectful to AEPhi, in my opinion. I think you could have given the information in a more tactful way.

By the way, I got my conflicting info from an Iowa poster, so I'm not sure of the situation and will clarify that in thread.

Anyway, you don't need me to give tact lessons. No worries. Carry on...

When Doves Cry 11-04-2008 12:22 AM

Oh sorry. I should have said "MAY I just say..."
I meant it like "am I allowed to tell you this in this thread?" type of way.
Not in a "you don't know anything"
And next time, I'll will bold or italicize instead of capitalize, which is my way of emphasizing... not "screaming"...

I have a friend in AEPhi at Iowa. I've seen pictures on her facebook (proof?). They do participate in Formal Recruitment

LegallyBrunette 11-04-2008 06:06 PM
