I forgot to pick up or look for Algebra.
I did get Badu and Kravitz. I think she can get at least 3 of the songs on the radio. Many artists like her, they don't get much play, but they have a large following. :D Master Teacher sounds like something Bilal would do. I REALLY like this! It's different...like her! IMO it picks up where Wwu left off. I'll get to LK in a week or 2. :o I'm sure it's good! :D ETA: I heard Mariah's latest single. It sounds like something that would have appeared on Emancipation of MiMi. That's a good sign. :D I hope she makes an appearance at our class reunion in May. That would be a REAL treat! :D She started her last tour at GSU...anything is possible! :D :crossing fingers: |
I'm thinking I will ask for CDs for my 23rd birthday (2.28.08). One of my best friends wants to get me something. Algebra, Ledisi's first album, and the new Erykah seem like a good deal to me. I might even add Estelle, Eric Roberson and Rahsaan Patterson to the mix. :D
|
o.k., so tomorrow i need to get erykah and lenny. i can't believe it slipped my mind today.

My best friends are getting me tickets to Bilal (3.8.08) and Raheem Devaughn (3.10.08)!!!! Another friend is getting us tickets to Mos Def (3.30.08). Hopefully Bilal and Raheem don't sell out before purchases are made. February has already been a great music month, thanks to the AMAZING Ledisi and Chrisette Michele shows I attended. :D
I'll have to buy those CDs as a t-day gift, but I won't mind at all. LOL Soror RD, get to NYC and I'm telling you... it's on for a concert. Pinky promise! |

I concur! I have loved Lenny since he was singing about "letting love rule!" |

I like Soldier as well.
Check out VH1 Soul. EB performs live on the Soul Stage. She performs new and old tunes. :D |
Another New Amerykah lover!!!! Erykah did her thing with this album... It's been on repeat at home since Thursday. I love Master Teacher, That Hump and Telephone. Shoot, I love it all!! But I really, really, really love Telephone. (Dilla :( )

I actually kinda like Janet's new album. She's always more successful with her slow grooves than her fast tracks in my opinion. I'm also feeling Ayo. I don't know if she's been mentioned in this thread before but she's great. They play her video on BETJ all the time. Her music is kinda of a cross between Corrinne Bailey Rae and Tracey Chapman. |
Estelle...anyone checked her out? I saw her new video with Kanye. I'm feeling that song more than her first single (In the states anyway).
Speaking of Kanye, have you all seen his Flashing Lights video? :o  :whoah nelly: |
I love Estelle!!! I have "I Love You" and "OG B***h" on my MP3 player.
The Flashing Lights video gives me a headache. :( |

I may have said it before, but I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!
I like Estelle, based on the track with Kanye... heard it once so I need to check her out. Ayo is not a new name, but I have yet to listen to her work. Has anyone heard of Lemar? :o I think that's his name. He's a new-ish UK soul singer. I heart him! :D |
I want yall to check out Yolanda Johnson. Here's a link: http://www.zshare.net/download/86462569b231e9/
This song is called Get 2 Know u |
Just finished listening to the new Gnarls Barkley...I like it, but "St. Elsewhere" is much better. You'll have to listen to it at least more than once to really get into it.
Does anybody have Day 26's CD? |
^^
Ditto on Gnarls Barkley. It was aight. <---Yolanda Johnson's CDs on Rhapsody. |

Okay...I have it...and after I got thru the first song which I very much so dislike...I started to enjoy the cd. I think it will take a few more time listening to it but for right now...its alright...they are probably the best group to come from MTB... |
Bad Boy Baby!
Day 26 is a must have! They took R&B back to what it was when I grew up. I love the album.
|
I recently bought Day 26, both Van Hunt albums, and Sara Bareilles's new album, Little Voice. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Sara. She sings in the living room in that Rhapsody commercial. Her voice is great. :) I downloaded Van Hunt in college, but needed to put his work on my ipod. I have yet to listen to Van Hunt's second album or Day 26.
|
^^^I have Van Hunt's 2nd CD, wasn't too crazy about it. Day 26 is pretty nice, though.
I picked up Leona Lewis this morning; good debut, but it's so Mariah-esque. It's very reminiscent of Mariah's debut CD. |

Have yall heard of Estelle? She's from London and has this singing/rapping thing going on. Very reminiscent of L-Boogie.
http://rapidshare.com/files/10376173...08-RAGEMP3.rar I really like the song "American Boy" with Kanye, "Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)" and "You Are" with John Legend. |
Estelle
LOL
Scroll up. We talked about her! |

I don't know if we've brought this artist' name up, but J. Holiday's cd is FIYAH! It reminds me of old skool David Hollister.
|
Just listened to Raheem DeVaughn's 2nd CD this week...why didn't I listen to this sooner? This CD is HOT!!! I might have to go get the first one now! :)
