Okay...it IS Chicago...but I don't remember MY prom looking like that. Although I did go to a school that was...nevermind....

but for real, the kid flashing that wad of cash?... one phone call out of the crowd, and next thing you know he's getting knocked in the head and relieved of that cash..... and the afterprom with Charquetta will be the least of his thoughts.

mulattogyrl 06-14-2006 10:24 AM

tunatartare 06-14-2006 12:06 PM

The last one is downright conservative after all the others that you've posted.

The girl in the background who looks like she's picking her wedgie gives it that extra classy touch.

Honeykiss1974 06-14-2006 03:08 PM

The last two (minus homegirl in the background on the last one :( ) weren't bad, but as for the rest of them..............

How do you even attempt to leave the house with two maple leaves stuck to your breast as a top?

AKA_Monet 06-14-2006 07:23 PM

I'm sorry but pasties deserve to be in a strip club...

I guess that's what's popular now...

An how come homegirl had socks on in her "flaminco" dress?

Then I understand pregnant girl going to prom these days, but that dress is not "flattering"... It is not cute...

Steeltrap 06-15-2006 06:57 PM

Once again, I ask how old are the mothers of these girls?

tunatartare 06-15-2006 07:08 PM

I don't ask how old. I ask who.

StarFish106 06-16-2006 12:39 PM

I am not a mother (not unless you count some of my dolls i had as a child) but how in the h3ll do you let your child walk out of the house like that? i want to send these to my mom so bad! THIS IS NOT CUTE!!!! You are a child! Doesn't the laws of indecent exposure work here? And how do schools allow this to go on? I don't get it at all..

DELTABRAT 06-16-2006 07:10 PM

I agree with ST. Who are these people's mothers? Who are their friends? Well, the friends are in the pictures with them so I guess having a sane person tell you that you look tacky is only wishful thinking in these case.

Why do they all look like strippers? The pregnant girl...c'mon. Wanna know who these folks' parents/mothers are...? They're her.

Prom Dresses...It's A Whole New World 2023-24 will feature HER child lookin' a hot mess.:(

tunatartare 06-16-2006 07:22 PM

Last summer, I was taking the subway home from work. Two girls who I know had to have been about ten or eleven because they were talking about the Barbies that they had, got on at one stop. One of these girls was wearing a crop top that looked like a sports bra. They were coming back from school. I ask 1)why the hell didn't the school send her home to change? 2)what kind of parent would buy that for their daughter? and 3)what the hell kind of parent would let their eleven year old daughter ride the subway dressed like that by herself. That's just asking for trouble.

**SIGH**

Paparazzi1908 06-24-2006 08:23 PM

Maybe I just grew up in a rather conservative, mostly Clear town, but my high school had a very strict dress code for prom. Splits couldn't be higher than the knee, girls couldn’t show their midriffs in any way, guys had to wear dark colored suits or tuxedos, and the list goes on. Anyone bold enough to show up in violation wasn't admitted and their prom fees were not refunded... But this was a school were guys couldn't wear braids or earrings, and hair couldn't be dyed any "unnatural" color (i.e. no blonde hair on black girls or bright red hair on white girls  )

Marie 06-26-2006 11:42 AM

Ok, can we just make it a rule that no one is allowed to get a dress made out of satin ever again? I mean, it just never comes out right no matter how hard they seem to try. It is forever like a HS fashion class project.

mulattogyrl 06-26-2006 11:54 AM

UGH. I can't take these prom outfits anymore. They are just a tacky hot cup of fuggin mess. It's horrible. And what parents are letting their kids out like that? OMG have you NO fashion sense? I mean yes, teenagers will be teenagers but there's just a dayum limit. Goodness.

OhSoVeryLadylike 07-25-2006 12:23 AM

Do I know you?

Did you go to your prom?
Yes, junior and senior

What did you wear?
Junior - bronze A-line dress
Senior - Pink Princess cut dress

Colors?
I was on prom committee my junior year...Blue, White and Silver
Senior year I don't remember
Were you prom king/queen?
No

Did you go with someone special or friend?
Junior - a senior friend of mine
Senior - the THEN love of my life

What was your prom theme?
"Today's Dreams, Tomorrow's Memories" - Junior Year
Senior - I don't remember

How much did your prom cost?
$35 per ticket- 50 for a couple
Junior year - dress $50 at Dillards caught it after Christmas, already had the shoes from a holiday party. That's all I paid for.

Senior year - $150 for the dress, about $30 for the shoes and $2 for a kiddie purse to complete the pink theme[/QUOTE]

GoldenGlow2000 07-25-2006 03:31 PM

All I can say to those pictures are HAYLE NO!!! The parents may have allowed the girls to leave the house looking like hoochies and street walkers, but the schools let the girls in dressed like that?!
And the pregnant girl! What was she thinking in that dress?!!

*sigh*

Sahara 08-02-2006 10:25 PM

Did you go to your prom?
sophmore & junior years- military ball (Jr. ROTC)
senior year prom

What did you wear?
Soph- strapless dress w/ black bodice & blue tafetta bubble hem (I can't believe it's back in style) & blue bolero
Junior - strapless taffetta purple dress with gathered bodice & angled hem
Senior - strapless floorlength red satin dress w/ matching jacket and purse (HATED IT) & pearls
(is it obvious that I'm partial to strapless dresses?)

Colors?
No special colors for the military balls (sidenote: the guys looked dayum good in those uniforms) ;) :D
Senior prom- Blue, White and Silver

Were you prom king/queen?
No

Did you go with someone special or friend?
Soph/Junior- the girls went as a group & coupled up with the guys during the ball (the balls were in conjunction with other schools)
Senior - a LOSER stand-in because my LOSER boyfriend was too busy cheating on me to go

What was your prom theme?
No themes for the military balls
Senior - I think it was "A Time to Remember" (not very memorable)

How much did your prom cost?
Military balls- don't remember if there was a fee. The dresses were storebought but my mother and I are skilled bargain shoppers

Senior year - not certain but between $50-$75. The dress was made by a family member and I had to fight tooth and nail for the color, the fabric, the style (suddenly strapless was too risque)...and it still wasn't done right! I ripped up the dress a few years later to use for sewing projects. I gave away the jacket & I use the purse to hold my dry-erase markers.

I hope we don't have to revive this thread. My prayer is that people will look at themselves before they step outside for prom!
