I saw the movie on Friday night, and I wore my beautiful Apple Green Alpha Kappa Alpha jacket to show my support. To my surprise, there were quite a few Greeks sporting their symbols at the theatre. A Que, A Sigma, some Deltas and my sister and I (AKA's). There was even a step exhibition in the movie theatre lobby..
The movie was cute. Not a classic, not deep, but not totally lame either. IT is NOT a movie about GREEKS people. It is a coming of age story about a young man that HAPPENS to pledge while in college. His Greekdom is INTERGRATED into the story, but it is NOT the main focus of the movie, so please don't go expecting to see a documentary about us or stepping. That is all. :D |
the movie wasn't bad, but it lacked depth and was s bit contrived, in my opinion.

man, 22 million in opening weekend. cant say im entirely surprised opening at number one. the yahoo link seems to be suggesting that high sales could be linked to it opening on MLK weekend, but come on. this movie has been hyped for months. it was going to debut at #1 anyway. i give it props for doing so at #1 for the fact that its January and most movies that premiere this time of year flop.

I just saw this movie and I loved it. I went just to support a Black film and I really love stepping. I was surprised that I actually thought it was a good film. My chapter made is a Delta night out and we brought inactive sorors. So we were Delta deep up in there, as well as a couple of Alpha and Omega spouses. I would go see this movie again to keep it at the number one spot. Favorite scene: when DJ out danced each city at the club to "Walk It Out!" Hot!

I went to see this movie last night and enjoyed it...It definitely made me reminisce on my college days especially since they filmed it at Morris Brown....It's not a deep movie...but definitely something that our young folks can appreciate...Hubby and I kept saying we hope that it will inspire some folks to go off to college...I LOVE how DJ was always in his books

I was just surprised.... |
Just saw it. In the beginning, I wasn't feeling it but as the movie moved along it got better.
The stepping (towards the end) wasn't bad either. The trailers didn't do it any justice. Darren's character was a total @$$hole. I was glad when Megan told him off. The president of Theta CAN. GET. IT. :p DJ and the president of the Mus were cute as well. I saw the many fraternities and sororities in the movies. The sorors were representing. :D It was a nice coming-of-age movie and it just so happened that the guy was in a fraternity. And nobody mentoned the cameo from Keith Sweat! :p |

Okay, okay, I went to see this freakin' movie, and though I originally thought that it would be the wackest joint ever, I liked it more than I liked that ubberwack movie, Drumline. I was impressed with both the writing and production that went into it, (Written by a man of Omega) (produced by two Men of ALPHA PHI ALPHA) hell, Alphas produce everything anyway, so, the holistic Black Greek family should support these men and this endeavor. Sensuret I, how in the hell can Bruhs boycott you? Whomever sent you that email has me flatfooted, and whomever sent it, was probably not made right anyway. There's Busters in every organization Bruh. We fly high, no lie, we ballin'. the 7th Son of Osiris |
