Bid Day

I am happy to report that my daughter did receive a bid to a sorority at A&M that she really loved. After all the ups and downs and tension of this week, I witnessed something today that was extremely heartwarming and enlightenening for me. However, she won't let me tell the name of the sorority.

You see, I attended a mostly male college back in the dark ages when there were only a couple of sororities starting up at my college. So, I had a very limited knowledge of the sorority system.

My daughter had asked me to come to College Station today to wait with her( and when a VERY independent 19 sophomore daughter asks you to come see her, I would crawl on my knees to get to her). I did come and I witnessed something that it dawned on me that had been missing for her all her life.

She grew up the only daughter . She had always wanted sisters or at least female cousins. When she got her bid, she literally ran over to the MSC, hugged and kissed me and thanked me for coming, and saw a another girl from rush that made the same sorority. She grabbed the other girl's hand and they ran over to the area of their new sorority sisters. I truly had not seen my daughter so excited and this happy in a long time. I knew from her reaction that she was in the right place for her, and I have to admit, I did shed a few tears seeing her so happy. She is extremely active at A&M, but this was something I think was really missing in her life.

So, thanks everyone for all the supportive messages and for starting this thread. I just wanted to let you know that everything worked out wonderfully.

Hurray! Hurray! Congrats to TX-Daughter. I was at A&M last Saturday for a skit preview day, so I know just what she saw on Skit night.
She has joined a neat group of ladies.
Hurray for Alpha Delta Pi!
