We've got at least 8" and it's still coming down.
From Weather Underground: Nowcast as of 8:57 am EST on February 12, 2006 Now An intense band of heavy snow will continue to slowly push east through 11 am...producing snowfall rates possibly as high as 3 to 5 inches per hour. Between 8 and 12 inches of additional snow may be possible during this time. Heavy snow will combine with winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph to create visibilities near zero at times. Hold off any travel plans until later as roads will be extremely dangerous. |
I'm looking outside and it doesn't look all that bad...but all the churches, businesses and EVERYTHING is closed. My friend was supposed to fly out of LaGuardia in a few hours but her flight just got cancelled. This is madness!

It is snowing in Atlanta now. I am not happy at all :( I hate snow! It's cold and messes everything up around here ...
|
As usual the Metro DC area is overreacting to the amount we got. Everything is closed today and we even got dispensation for attending Mass. I guarantee that the schools will have at least a 2 hour delay tomorrow for no reason.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been 20 years since I've seen snow fall. I've seen snow up in the mountains that's leftover from the winter before but it's been years since I've actually watched it fall.
I went outside in the morning to walk my dog and said to myself, "That's weird. The trees are shedding white stuff all over." It took me a minute to realize that it was snowing and there was a significant amount too. It didn't stick to the ground but it was still good enough for me! I immediately called my family and friends in Florida to let them know how excited I was. (NutBrnHair- I never thought I'd be posting in this thread either!) |

But I'm glad everyone else likes the snow :) |
My parents in CT have already gotten hit pretty hard, but it looks like the worst is over for them. Here in Boston it just keeps on coming.
|
According to the weather channel, NYC has set a record of greatest snowfall from a single storm (with 26.9" in Central Park).
Boston is expected to get 16-24 inches. DC got 8 to 9 inches (which is enough to close schools and stuff, even here in the snow belt of Michigan) Baltimore got about a foot, and Philadelphia a foot to a foot and a half. In Connecticut up to two feet have fallen. Up to 30 inches is forecast for the Hartford area. That's a major snow storm... by anybody's standards. In Michigan today, the sun was shining, although it was cold. Just had to mention that :) |
Hmmm...I'm still not seeing a nor'easter! :p
|
My dad was in Washington DC this week. He was supposed to come home today, but he didn't want to be delayed so he took a flight out yesterday afternoon. Sounds like that was a good move!

20+ inches here in Northern NJ and schools are open today.

Pittsburgh missed most of it, we got like maybe 2 or 3 inches, not enough to do anything.
As much fun as a snowday would be, it would seriously set me back at work. Enjoy the fun everyone! |
no snow time fun, it stopped and then started to melt

Schools are closed here in Connecticut. I'm telecommuting today - my rule is, if schools are closed, I work from home. I will probably get some flak for it tomorrow, but I'll be alive and in one piece.
