I don't disagree. I just don't think that because one contestant was choosen over another doesn't automatically mean it's okay to scream racism.

We don't really know HOW ANTM is picked, they don't really share that info. I would guess that Cover Girl has a huge stake in it. CG models seem to be perkier and outgoing. After the Naima disaster, they probably wanted to make sure that they had someone that would meet their image more. Especially after Eva- who I think is a very good spokesperson- Naima must've killed them. Nik, while certainly more outgoing than Naima, is still on the reserved side. As I stated earlier, Nik smiling just didn't look natural. Nicole fits CG much better. I'm sure Nik will still have a good career, if anything, maybe better, because she doesn't have the constraints that the winner would.

I don't know what other girls I would've choosen to win. Lisa took great photos- but I doubt that CG would want her antics associated with them, there's a great chance she could've embarssed them. She was also older and LOOKED it.

No one really stood out to me this season.

I think it's funny how none of the past winners/contestants have received the HUGE amount of success Tyra works it out to be. Andrienne only found some amount of fame b/c she's a trainwreck. Eva has done decently for herself, as has Tocarra, but no one has really vaulted up the modeling ladder.

.

co-sign. I don't know why they pick older girls and plus sized girls. They ALWAYS get kicked out. They should do a separate plus size show, where all the girls are plus. And they need to enforce an age limit. Why let a 26 yr old come into the house, to force her out b/c she looks old compared to the 18 year old?

I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes with the sponsors that affects the outcome.
Black OR white, this is the truth.

This is no longer a competition for someone who can walk a catwalk in Paris and model couture, it's an hourlong plug for Cover Girl. They ought to just say that and be done with it.

And I think that's because the fashion houses and whoever else decides who models in the high fashion area laughed their asses off at Tyra and saying "don't think so"

I do think it's misleading for them to put so much emphasis on high fashion when their models don't end up doing high fashion!

GET OVER IT. I can't believe how ridiculous those posters are. My favorite comment is the one about how Nicole stood out because she was pale. Give me a fucking break.

i would love to see what would happen if you posted this type of isht "over there"

why is personality a factor? what model, black or white, cover girl or not, has ever given us personality--except for maybe tyra? that's such a dumb cop out.

What about Eva?

Sorry, but a black woman can't win everytime. And just because the black woman didn't win is no reason to cry racism, etc
I'm going to refrain from even commenting on this in detail. All I will say is, race is NOT a factor...at least from my standpoint.

Honestly, I think that has a lot to do with the fact that many girls go work in Europe and we don't really hear about what they do there. Some of the girls, like Brita, have also been signed to big agencies.

Yoanna did pretty well for herself. She had a campaign for Sephora, and now does a ton of hosting for E! Fashion Files and Fashion Week, as well as hosting The Look For Less.

But Yoanna still has flabby back fat love handles. icky poo.

I'm glad Nicole won. She was consistant and looked like she learned a lot. She screwed up te ad, but she had nailed one before. She was more versatile than Nik. I think they'll both get work. I hated Nik's walk, though. I couldn't concentrate.

I agree with you here to some extent. I think Nicole was great and deserved to win. I also thought Nic was great and deserved to win.... but both of these girls I could see in a different way. Nicole rocked the runway, and I could see her doing lots of commercials and such. I could see Nik doing more serious modeling photos. Each both has great model qualities (from a non-model's point of view) but in different areas.

Many people in that thread in the other forum are making comments pretty much saying that race had something to do with it. And if it's not pretty much saying that, it's making comments about her skin color. If any of US said stuff like that, we'd be called racist. Some of the stuff that is pretty ridiculous I posted below.

She's standing out only cause she's pale
Quote:

IT'S BECAUSE NIK IS BLACK! YEAH I SAID IT!
Quote:

of course it is. they thought they could get away with Niama until they realized she was half black, so they had to get it here.
Quote:

I've been telling y'all this since the season started, there's no way there was gonna be 3 of US in row.
Quote:

I told ya'll. After Kim went home, it was all Nicole! There was NO way they would allow ANOTHER (3xs) non-white to win. If so, Tyra could hang that show up!
Quote:

I just think Nik stands out! Nicole is just another white girl model, IMO. If I flipped through a magazine, I wouldn't stop and say, "that's Nicole from ANTM." They all look alike. If I saw Nik, I'd REMEMBER who she was.
Comments like that are unnecessary.

For some people, everything is a race issue.

Some of yall are really naive:rolleyes:

Let's just call a spade a spade... ANTM needed to pick a white girl to keep their white viewers. Really, Nicole should have been kicked off weeks beforehand, she should have never made it to the top three.

Wake up... most times, race is an issue.

Not everything in the world is about race, but when people start to bring the race card into the picture, it suddenly becomes this huge issue.

And if we wanna pull the race card, how about the fact that some of the Law Schools applications I've received actually tell me that they will use "race" (especially people who are of Hispanic descent) as a "factor" in determing acceptance. So in reality someone with a worse gpa and LSAT score could beat me into law school because their Hispanic (or a minority). (And yes this actually was stated in a law school application, it was from a school in Texas, SMU I believe. I was actually shocked when I read it. IMPO, law school's shouldn't be using race as a determining factor in admissions or not. They should be strictly looking at gpa, lsat scores, letters of rec and personal statement).

Sorry for the mini hijack but if we are going to be arguing about the 'race card'. We should be questioning it over things such as acceptance into grad school and whatnot, not over the outcome of a tv show.

And remember that Nik had a 50/50 chance of winning. If it really was all about race Bre and Nik would have never made it to the final 3. We still would have seen Kim and Jayla. I personally believe that Nik had as good of a chance of winning as Nicole did. And not knowing the actual debate the judges had, it is hard for anyone to pinpoint exactly why they chose Nicole. I think either one would have made a great ANTM. In the end, I honestly think it came more down to personality. I say this because, Niama doesn't really have one, and Nik's really didn't shine through, not like Nicole's did at times. But again, not being a judge, it is hard to even hazard a guess, but I seriously doubt race was an issue.

Feel free to disagree with me :) Just my opinion. :)
