It takes place in Baltimore, but several of the actors are from the New York area.
The current mayor could probably be characterized as crooked although he likes to say "I don't wanna know" whenever someone wants to talk about dirty dealings. I think he used to be for the people, but the power and access to money has gone to his head and he is far from what he started to be.

Marlo is the current kingpin on the Westside of Baltimore and yep, he's young.

Yeah, wiretaps are legal. You have to get a court order for them. This season they were trying to catch Marlo and I think they were still supposed to be looking for Kintell Williams (who they never show), but something stopped them.

Yes! This is the episode that I needed. I was starting to get disgusted....I felt as if the Wire was losing its edge, but now....I can't wait for next week!

I'm still learning names. The retired ganster guy who is running the boxing gym took two boys to a boxing match. He was taking them home. One boy jumped out and told him he didnt need a ride home. Why did he do that?

The retired gangster guy is Dennis "Cutty" Wise. The boy that jumped out is Michael. There was no explaination as to why he did this, but there is a lot of speculation on the Wire Boards on HBO that he was molested or that he just does not trust any adult and does not want to "owe" anyone anything. AGain, this is just speculation.

I don't have on demand either. I do not recommend going to on HBO.com message boards if you do not have on demand because there are a lot of spoilers on there. THey do have a pretty nice 'who's who' charts with names and a little back ground that might help you know who's who.

y'all need on demand... The Wire is blowing up in very nicely... and I do think Michael was abused, either that or Cutty is doing something with them boys that he box-coaches and Michael knows it and is trying to stay wawy from him...

This is definintely one of my favorite shows as well. However, I have to admit that The Wire this season has not hooked me like the Stringer Bell/Barksdale episodes, but it is finally starting to heat up.

I think I need to get on the HBO "On Demand" wagon.
