So it might not be necessary. I have no clue. Any thoughts.
Girl, your question's not disrespectful ;)

Depending on the campus, you won't hear NPHCers using their calls ON CAMPUS. But, some use their calls daily, while the rest of us (myself included) don't.

It really just depends on WHY they are using the call and WHERE they are. I hope that makes sense.

It seems as though some of you take strong opinions and strong words for "hostile." What types of environments do you all dwell in, where people have to walk on eggshells all the time, as to not hurt your feelings?

I don't ask anyone to walk on eggshells, I'm a high school teacher thus that is not possible for most of the people that I deal with on a daily basis. (ahhhh-teenagers.:) ) It just seemed to me that the rolling eyes thing is kind of hostile. If it was not meant that way I retract the hostility claim.

See folks, two people who seemingly disagreed before, can come to terms in a positive way. ;)

Some AKAs were at one of our events that APhiAs were involved in, and they were doin their call. I didn't know what it was at first, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Thanx for the clarification. :). My sorority has nothing like that really. All we do is get up on top of a chair, table, bar, etc. and shout "K-K-K to the L, L-L-L to the P, K to the L, L to the P, KLP!!!" that usually gets the job done ;)

Okay...

starang's comments about small mindedness were NOT in reference to race. He didn't say "you're a small minded white man."

NO WHERE did ANYONE talk trash about whites. "yada yada yada..." refers to the young man's going on and on about "white man...." when this topic HAD and HAS absolutely NOTHING to do with race.

I could use this thread as an EXCELLENT sociological study on racial and ethnic relations. The results don't look pretty.

That's tight!! I like that!!

I'm not familiar with your sorority, but it seems as though you all have fun doing your "chant."

Do you all tend to do that at certain types of events?

right...the others who attacked whites? read back up, it was someone white who decided to make it a racial thing. in fact, every time it was brought up, it was by someone who was white. it was the grapist who called chaos an angry black woman.

We do that too...just replace the KLP with A-O-Pi. Though I haven't ever seen my sisters do that at a bar....heheheh, maybe I should go to bars with big groups of them to see if it breaks out.:D

Come to think of it, we've mainly only done the chant at events like philanthropies and during recruitment, but I digress.

/end hijack

Back to the regularly scheduled thread which has gotten WAY out of hand. :(

LOL at bid night, when our pledges get in, rush, Greek Week, anytime sisters feel like doing it, etc. you get the idea. LOL. My Big Sister lived with 5 other girls this semester who weren't in a sorority and everytime me or anyone else would come over they would all come out and chant it. They were actually the ones who taught that one to me along with a few others that aren't appropriate to post on GC ;) PM me if you wanna know. Basically KLP's are loud and hyper and aren't known for our abilities to keep quiet. I fit in perfectly. :)

PS we're a local which is why you haven't heard of us

Dude... the Grapist isn't white. He's Grape.

We do With a P which is a very traditional chant for Phi Mus.... but chants are a whole 'nother thread :)

Is it normal for sororities to do chants at bars, though?
