Kendra, I am really glad you enjoyed the APO party! :)

Just a side note, I was visiting some friends at Penn State last year during thon weekend and I was impressed by what a big deal it was and how much money was raised. Kudos to you for getting involved in such an activity!

So happy for you!

Wonderful! Alpha Phi Omega is a terrific organization. I look forward to welcoming you to the brotherhood very soon, I hope:D

I am really interested in your thread because I think we came into the rush experience from a similar place, socially and spiritually. I also prayed about rush because part of me was really not sure if Greek Life (as it was on my particular campus) was the right fit for me. But I was definitely getting caught up in the excitement of recruitment, and I knew that I would eagerly accept a bid if one was offered. Now, I'm thankful that things worked out as they did. After I was dropped from rush, I joined a local choir, and that was how I made friends with the pastor who eventually performed my wedding ceremony. I also became really involved in another campus organization where I met my husband. I probably would not have become so close with my Cory if I had devoted my free time to a sorority. There is a plan, my friend!

I plan to check out local I'm interested in, but I think I'll pledge APO, see how it is! I just saw the flyer for their rush 20 mins before the meeting started and after heading over there and meeting the brothers, I felt like I was at home. My heart is in philantrophy and since APO is mainly philantrophy, I think this is the best place for me. :D :D

Kendra

Kendra - I know that when I was in APO in college I met some Penn State brothers at a regional conference. Their chapter is nothing short of awesome. Let us know how things turn out!!

Yeah! I am so excited that you are interested in APO! I have made some of my closest life-long friends through APO. Please keep us updated and let us know how it goes!

Tonight is another rush event with APO, broomball at the ice rink on campus! And on Monday and Tuesday, there will be official pinning-in! I'm going to the broomball event but I'm pretty sure that I'm going to pledge APO. I like the brothers and what they stand for. So on Monday, I will officially be a pledge of APO!

I was in a fraternity at The University of Texas, whose greek system could be referred to as being elitest. A popular misconception is that you are limited to being friends with the girls in your sorority exclusively. That is not the case for people who are confident, and not caught up in that notion. Also, to tell you the truth, most guys don't really give a shit about what sorority a girl is in as long as she is "cool." This is coming from someone who was in a popuar fraternity that did not limit himself to the people that I pledged with, saying that, I feel as though I gained much more from my college experience. If you worried about your religious beliefs, if your faith is strong enough, nothing will deter you.

PS I once was an altar boy, so I am very familiar with faith

phishphan at ut, I wish there were more guys like you at my school :(
