Hmmm...I wonder if the house colors correspond to real sororities:

Gryffindor is red and gold, so corresponds with Chi Omega, and somewhat with AGD (red, buff and green).

Hufflepuff is black and yellow, so corresponds with Kappa Alpha Theta.

Ravenclaw is blue and bronze (I think...it's been a while since I read HP), so Tri Delta, AXiD.

Slytherin is green and white, so that corresponds with Kappa Delta (sorry....don't shoot the messenger, I am just having fun with colors. I think AEPhi has green too)

I don't know if I have the Hogwarts colors totally accurately, so feel free to dig out those books and correct me! :D

AHHH!!! I'M IN SLYTHERIN!!!!!

(AEPhi's colors are green and white, same as Kappa Delta's.)

Though I thought Slytherin's official colors were green and silver... someone please confirm this, for the sake of AEPhi's and KD's everywhere... ;)

I had a feeling that you would post soon after you'd read that. hee hee...

Actually I think you're right. I think the Hogwarts houses each have 1 metallic color (i.e. gold or silver and then their regular color), but I can't remember.

The colors are DEFINITELY stated in Book #1. Maybe even around the Sorting Hat Ceremony part, but I can't remember for sure!!

A few minutes later... Okay, I stand corrected, these are the colours (ah the miracle of the Internet)

Gryffindor: house colours are gold and scarlet.
Slytherin: house colours are silver and green (aephi alum, you are safe!!)
Hufflepuff: house colours are yellow and black
Ravenclaw: house colours are blue and bronze (Ooh, I like, just add pink and you have DG! ;) )

I guess that would make me a Gryfferin.. or a Slythendor. *snort* ;)

In the Goblet of Fire (where the students from the other schools come to visit for the "Champions Tournament"), did their houses have colours? Just wondering.

Hmmmm. Gamma Phi Beta has brown, and bronze is pretty close to brown. I am willing to "share" Ravenclaw LOL for the bronze with you, and for the blue with ADPi's. ;)

I don't think so. I reread GoF in preparation for the release of OotP, and I don't remember anything about school colors... I do recall that Durmstrang and Beauxbatons weren't subdivided into houses as Hogwarts was.
