Famous Members

Big A Phi to all the Greeks....Blaque love...its Phantastic
06 to my Frat...continue holding up the light.
Guess I am just a little long winded considering this is my first post....anyways.

This is in response to a post I saw in an earlier page. WEB Dubois is an honorary Member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Epsilon Chapter (I better know this considering the nights of, shall we say, creative learning)

What I fail to understand is any organization, mine included, striving to build its identity on a past glory. There is an Akan proverb, "Look towards your past, and you will begin to recognize your future". What I have witnessed is that too many individuals are dependant on that past, always ready to justify where others have been, others accomplishments, other "glory" yet not focused on their future progress...and what efforts they PERSONALLY will implement to continue their orgs. "success". Come 20 years from now, we will be that future, yet many of us will not have a thing to which we "contributed"....yet we know we "Pledged all day and night" and Martin Luther King was my Frat (for example). I wonder, was it some cats getting together, throwing darts at names at the wall as to "claim" members?
Who am I? Why do I believe in Manly deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All ManKind? Why do I continue to Try to Transcend All?
It reminds me of my cousin tellin me of her days at Clark Atlanta when she went to a club and met Deion Sanders Brother. Her reply was "But who are YOU?"

Anyways, just my thought here at work with isht to do!!!!

Halle Berry

I hear a while ago that Halle Berry was an honorary Zeta. But, a few days ago, a friend of mine told me that she was going to be inducted as an honorary Delta along with Condoleeza Rice. Does anybody know the truth behind either of these rumors?

I received info about Halle being inducted in January, but we'll have to see if it happens. I heard rumors about Condoleeza Rice, but I'm not sure.

I thought Condoleeza Rice is an Alpha Chi Omega. Or at least someone posted that on Greeklife. Wouldn't that make her ineligible for membership in NPHC? I'll post the link if I find it.

Here it is:

http://www.alphachiomega.org/

She's listed under accomplished AChiO's.

I JUST RECEIVED THE APRIL ISSUE OF HONEY MAG AND THEY TALK ABOUT HALLE BERRY HAD CANCELLED THREE DAYS BEFORE BEING INDUCTED AS AN HONORARY MEMBER. HONEY BLEW IT ALL OUT OF PROPORTION STATING ON THE COVER "HALLE DISSES DELTAS". IN HER LETTER SHE SAID HER SCHEDULE CHANGED AND SHE COULD NOT ATTEND. ALTHOUGH SHE WAS THRILLED AND HONORED, SHE HOPED TO JOIN THEM AT AN EVENT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THEN HONEY PROCEEDS TO WRITE "DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH"

Thanks for the Info...

Yeah.....

Women have the same problem. People just start 'naming' members. You see someone with 'pink and green' on and she's a Soror.

I've seen the following listed as AKAs (and they are not)....

Debbie Allen
Tisha Campbell Martin
Oprah Winfrey

I've also seen one of the Delaney Sisters on a Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. list (and on Skip Mason's fact list); however, (if she is), she's also an Honorary AKA (both were initiated at our Boule in Indianapolis in 1994 along with Lynn Whitfield, JoMarie Payton (Family Ties), Debbie Turner(Former Ms. America), Bebe Campbell Moore and etc.).

Also, Eleanor Roosevelt is an Honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was initiated in 1949.

Thanks for all of the other info....it was enlightening. However, I have never heard that Lou Gossett was an Alpha before.
