So glad she is back to vote, but wish I could hear about how the other victims are recovering. Their lives are worth just as much.

Pam Simon, who was shot and is an AOII, spoke at our convention in Tucson. She is doing well and said that she was very lucky that despite having been shot in very important areas, the bullets missed all important organs. She is back to work at Congresswoman Giffords' office doing the work she is passionate about.

The story in our paper this morning, probably AP, talked about just that. It was put in the context of the other victims watching Giffords's return on TV.

Wishing your sister continued good health and success. Great to hear.

I expected as much. Unfortunately, the shooting has robbed our state and country of a wonderful congresswoman.

Jared Loughner to plead guilty next week to charges. The news last night said he has finally been deemed sane after 18 months of treatment and has changed his plea.

AZ-AlphaXi 08-07-2012 03:38 PM

USAToday is reporting that he has plead guilty

I find this really sad.

Pietz says medication appears to be working because Loughner has said he feels badly about what he did. She says he has cried and apologized. "He has become human," she says.

Mental illness can remove all traces of your humanity and when treated you can't believe what you were capable of untreated. I feel sorry for his victims and the Jared Loughner that could have been had someone intervened and gotten him help when he first started showing signs of illness. So unnecessary.

A special day in Tucson.

AZ-AlphaXi and I got to see Endeavour as it flew (piggybacked on a 747) into Tucson. Commander Mark Kelly and his wife, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, were at the UofA to see it as it passed overhead, looped around, and made a second pass over campus. I was amazed at the SIZE; typically don't see 747s fly so low.
