dont quote me, but i think it was to help the third chapter make quota. I think around 200 attended preference parties. I'm not a quota expert, but wouldn't that make quota higher?

I feel bad because they are a really great chapter with great girls. We shared the ballroom this year and one night their music kept coming on to ours, so their recruitment chair made us a card and gave us a cookie cake because she felt so bad.

The new RFM sets quota wherever the most number of women match to their highest choice. It's no longer based on dividing the total number at pref by the number of groups recruiting.

Doesn't the number of women at pref give the quota range though? Then the software (usually) moves the number up or down in that range to match the most women?

Yes, but range is arbitrary and can change. It just gives you an idea of where it might be.

OK, I've read this three times and still don't understand it. Are you saying that if there are 100 rushees and 90 of put ABC first and ABC wants all of them, 90 is quota??

AGDee 09-06-2010 12:56 PM

My understanding of it is that they run several different quota figures through the computer system and the quota selected is the one that places the most PNMs and helps the most chapters achieve quota and that quota additions help more women get their higher choice chapter. However, this is not my strong area...

FSUZeta 09-06-2010 02:38 PM

thanks jenny and titchou. quota additions bordering on 20 seems like quota was set too low.

this is my first year not being able to help out during recruitment, so i am a little out of touch.

Right, I'm just saying if there are 4 chapters and 200 PNMs at pref, quota range will be 50 +/- X (X being whatever the software decides it'll be)

If every PNM put down ABC first, RFM doesn't set quota at 200 and give ABC all the PNMs, (nor does it set quota at 1 and give ABC 195 QAs) it's still using #atPref/#ofchapters as a starting point.

I think these kinds of questions are the ones the geeks among us (me me me me me) dwell on, when most people can accept "they put the names in the computer and it spits out 4 new member classes." HA! One of these days I'm going to become a recruitment advisor so I can watch this process live and in person.

University of West Georgia

The chapter is out celebrating so I can't get any numbers of other than to say that Alpha Gam got quota + 3 (and I don't know what quota was.) I wanted to stay for the Bid Night party but prefs were over about 3 and the bid lists weren't released until about 7:30, I think. Cton is 45 minutes away down dark highways and 6 a.m. comes early.

I hear that only a little over 200 signed up. There was about 300 last year ago.

I think that each of the 6 chapters had 2 pref parties so, hopefully, everyone did great.

ETA: Quota was 26. I was afraid that it would be midteens to low 20's. I know that chapters had a lot graduating last year, etc.

Exciting!!
