Right now I am reading several books:
Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga by Rolfe Gates The Secret Power of Yoga: A Woman's Guide to the Heart and Spirit of the Yoga Sutras by Nischala Devi The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss, and Long Term Health by T.Colin Campbell & thomas M. Campbell II Walden by Henry David Thoreau I just finished Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr. I liked this book a lot except for one small blurb in the beginning, when she is telling her story and she was wondering why she had developed cancer and mentioned all of her positives including being a Democrat. The way she worded it sounded like because she was a faithful Democrat/liberal she did not deserve cancer. That offended me a bit because no one deserves to get cancer in general, much less due to their political affiliation or beliefs. I may be making too much of it, but I found that statement a bit silly and outrageous. |
I am reading Maeve Binchey's final book, Chestnut Street. I'm forcing myself to take it slowly, since it is the last one. :(

Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer. I just started. My mom recommended it. She has read a lot of his work and said he's pretty good. We'll see.
|
Just started Bob Saget: Dirty Daddy tonight. So far it's interesting but definitely not for the easily offended.

What I'm reading: The Casual Vacancy - J.K. Rowling So far, I'm a bit disappointed. I haven't read much, though, so I'm hoping my assessment is off-base. |
Darwins Children.

Trying to finish "The Fault In Our Stars" so I can see the movie Tuesday!

Roma Eterna by Robert Silverberg. It's a fantasy/historical fiction about the possibility of the Roman Empire never falling in the Middle Ages, nor the Hebrew Exodus from Egypt. It's rather dense, and every time the characters bring up certain ethnicities, they have to always stereotype them. It's getting annoying, but I really want to see how it turns out, because it ends up ending in about 1970 in our time.
That's the other annoying thing about it; all the dates are in A.U.C., so I have to constantly subtract 753 from the dates on the chapters. Right now I'm in the 1500's A.D., so I still have awhile. |
"Past Imperfect" by Julian Fellowes. It's a very enjoyable read - perfect summer beachy book.
