Yes, she seriously did.

Despite that very unfortunate comment, I do hope that she gets to stay.

She did, and it blew my mind. I guess I can appreciate that she got a personal meaning from the lyrics, but to compare her journey on AI to the Civil Rights Movement? That just can't be a good thing.

For what it's worth, I loved Jason doing ISTS. Now, that was reality TV.

Unfortunately, I'm weak and can't wait to watch tonight. If somehow Jason stays another week, I expect Randy's head to implode on camera.

PrettyInPink777 05-07-2008 09:36 PM

yikes!

I must say I actively detest the corn-pone arrangements and choreography that the AI contestants are forced to perform. How embarrassed they must be! (especially David Cook!!) :p

America got it right. Finally.

YES!

As happy as I am that Jason is gone, this would have made for some interesting TV.

PrettyInPink777 05-08-2008 03:37 AM

Jason seemed more joyous and free than I've ever seen him when he sang his swan song. I think he's happy now.

What kind of people?

Leslie Anne 05-08-2008 08:01 AM

In fairness to Syesha, I don't think that her comments were very clearly planned out. I seriously doubt that she actually believes that there's some comparison to her struggle and the Civil Rights Movement. She just saw a thread of a connection metaphorically and it was meaningful to her on both levels.

And to Bama...I strongly disagree that she was trying to get sympathy by expressing her feelings about the song she sang. You'll believe what you will though.

ComradesTrue 05-08-2008 08:04 AM

L.A. and Pretty-

I would ignore all comments by Bama. He has made ridiculous comments all over these boards that clearly demonstrate his ignorance.

PrettyInPink777 05-08-2008 08:21 AM

^^^^ Never mind. After a quick search, I see what you are.

SydneyK 05-08-2008 09:49 AM

I'm not much of an AI fan, but I get to watch occasionally. I'm happy with last night's results (Jason really deserved to go based on Tuesday's performance), but I'm honestly not much of a fan of anyone.

Clearly, David A. had the best performance Tuesday night (IMO), but I can't really see him being hugely successful on his own. David Cook appears to have too small of a niche (but then again, I've not seen much of the season). Syesha is good, but I think she and David A. are in the same boat - once the show is over, no one will really remember much about them... even if one of them wins.

I'm beginning to wonder whether AI has run its course.

Thetagirl218 05-09-2008 01:25 AM

In other news, Tampa Bay is going Syesha crazy! They have TV performances and all these public appearings scheduled tomorrow. They are trying to get as many people as possible to come out to them.

I am not a big Syesha fan at all, I think she should have gone home weeks ago, but apparently I am the only one in the Bay area who thinks so at the moment!

blueeyes04 05-09-2008 09:14 AM

I'm in the bay area and I agree! Syesha is boring and she sounds like every other female AI finalist.
I'm still depressed that Jason is gone lol...I guess it was kinda his time because he wasn't as strong as the other competitors, but he does have a beautiful voice I would definitely enjoy music that he put out way more than music of the other three

a.e.B.O.T. 05-10-2008 03:12 AM

Syesha has an amazing vocal instrument with a great rang, her skill in that regards was definitely the best female out of the bunch. HOWEVER, her voice just does not sound original. It sounds very typical, which leads little to entertainment values.

Stage Dad loses pass...

nittanyalum 05-10-2008 07:59 PM

^^^GOOD! I hope little David turns 18 soon so he can tell his Dad to take a hike for reals and stay out of his hair.

a.e.B.O.T. 05-11-2008 05:20 PM

Hopefully this means he stops picking songs like he is a 40/50 year old man, and starts singing songs for a 17 year old boy. I am very excited for producer and judges choice so there is a little variety in his line up. I find it interesting that he is now the vote for the worst contestant, because yes, he deserves it, but he does not need the help, lol.

AOIIalum 05-12-2008 06:55 AM

No such luck. Rumor has it one of his songs is Billy Joel's "And So It Goes". Every 17 year old child should sing a song about the heartbreak of ending a marriage, especially D'Arch.

a.e.B.O.T. 05-12-2008 04:52 PM

yes but that was Paula's choice, or atleast the rumor goes. AND GO FIGURE, she likes him the way he is, lol.

the rumored ones right now are:

David Cook
His Choice - “The World I Know” by Collective Soul
Simon Cowell’s choice - “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack
Producer's Choice ?????

Syesha Mercado
Her Choice ?????
Randy Jackson’s choice - “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys
Producer's Choice ?????

David Archuleta
His Choice ?????
Paula Abdul’s choice - “And So it Goes” by Billy Joel
Producer's choice - “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg

Still have four songs missing from the rumors... But on DAVID A... its like they DONT want this kid to sell records, ever. Sure, his first record will sell cuz he's DAVID A but after that, buh-bye. LOL, you can not get more sappy love song then Longer...

I like collective soul a lot. The problem is, it already sounds a lot like Cook, and his appeal comes from changing things up, so how will he change this up? Now, for Simon's choice... SIMON SIMON SIMON, you are trying to sell Leona Lewis more arn't you, because this happens to also be one of her singles!!!! However, I think Cook can do a lot with this, and it will be a lot of fun.

Syesha... well, all we know is Alicia Keys. WHICH IS FUNNY? cuz we all know that she is better when she does not do R&B. Is Randy trying to sink this ship?!? Well, we all know she is going home this week anyways (undeservingly, I think, but everyone has their opinion). I think however she will sing it beautiful, I just hope she finds a way to bring some flavor so she can step out from behind the shadows of the song.

pbear19 05-13-2008 08:30 PM

Oh. my.

Admittedly I have never been a fan of David A. I didn't like him from the very early shows before he got anywhere near the top 12. But still, I thought I had gotten used to hearing him and tuning him out.

David A. singing Chris Brown made my ears bleed.

nittanyalum 05-13-2008 08:35 PM

^^^LOL, yeah, what in baby jebus' name WAS that?

And I really wish Syesha had picked a different 2nd song too, she did SO great with her first one.

David C. choked me up, that has always been one of my very favorite songs.

pbear19 05-13-2008 08:41 PM

I thought Syesha's second song was fine. But, again I'm biased here, because I've always loved that song. And I kept thinking of the version Beyonce did in The Fighting Temptations, which wasn't that long ago and thus I don't consider the song to be the antithesis of contemporary.

LOVE David C. Adore him, will buy a rock CD for the first time in years when his drops.

nittanyalum 05-13-2008 08:59 PM

I'm really wishing they all just sang one song tonight.

pbear19 05-13-2008 09:04 PM

Or, that we had been sensible and turned off the TV after the first round. ;) I wouldn't mind having those 40 minutes back please.

RBL 05-13-2008 09:08 PM

WHAT AN UNDERWHELMING NIGHT

DAVID A. SHOULD GO HOME

Benzgirl 05-13-2008 09:14 PM

He should go home because the BS his father has put the show through.

Thetagirl218 05-13-2008 11:07 PM

Here is my take on the mind-numbing performance tonight, that I acutally stopped Tivo long enough to hear....

David A.....go back to high school...be a normal kid, and enjoy your senior year.

Syesha......Have fun in your broadway career...I suggest Dreamgirls perhaps...

David Cook....If America has any voice anymore picking the American Idol (Besides the millions of teenie boppers who vote for David A every week) you should be the winner!

I did not like his version of "Dare you to Move". That is a very recognizable song and very hard to top the original...

The same with "Don't want to miss a thing", you can't beat Aerosmith, but I did like his version!

Go David Cook!

ZTAngel 05-14-2008 09:58 PM

I wanted it to be Syesha instead of David A.

amanda6035 05-14-2008 10:00 PM

America, are you EFFING KIDDING ME? David Archuletta? Oh my god.

Me too. Too much hype about the battle of the David's, I guess.

RBL 05-14-2008 10:18 PM

Since I'm against everything David A.......no 17 year old is THAT goofy.he acts like he's 12

lets go David C

Ditto. In fact, the week they decided who was in the final 24, I had written Syesha's name down as one of the girls I really liked. I think she'll still get a recording contract.. maybe it will end up a blessing for her! Look at Jennifer Hudson after all!

ETA: I could have done without the Fantasia performance though.

All Fantasia did in that performance is whine on stage!

I really liked David Cook's little preview things, much better that the others!

I am sooo going for David Cook!

Simon's face during that performance said EVERYTHING that I was thinking.

I liked Syesha, but I'm not surprised at the results. I think she'll be successful in Broadway. =] With that said, I hope that David Cook wins!

Thank GOD for my DVR. We fast forwarded after listening to it for about 10 seconds. What was that God-awful chicken-like dance? I've never been a huge Fantasia fan though. To me, she always tried too hard to sound like Macy Gray.

I actually like David A. :o I know that's not a popular opinion here, but the kid has vocals. I'd be happy to see either David win, big fan of them both.

Yes! Simon had the same question mark floating over his head as I did!

RBL 05-15-2008 11:56 AM

Even though Tasia's singng was a mess... her performance and energy was good. Part of the reason she won during her season.. she was never afraid of the stage or taking a risk

BuckeyeTriDelta 05-20-2008 08:25 PM

I cannot be the only one who wants to punch David A. in the face. Seriously, get a grip kid.
